` ful Improvement,in Bevel-Gages for Sawflables; andldolrereby declarethatthe following is a full, clear, a-nd exact description ol' the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part oi' this specification, l
and in Which- Figure 1 is a plan of a bevel-gage made in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section of the Same, corresponding with Fig. l.
Similar letters of reference sponding parts in both figures.
This invention consists in a novel and simindicate correple construction and arrangement of the parts of a bevel-gage for saw-tables, whereby great e'liiciency, accuracy, and durability are attained. Its simple arrangement enables the operator to set the gage at any desired angle and distance from the saw, with less trouble and more accuracy than heretofore.
To enable others skilled in the art to construct bevel saW-gages in accordance my invention,I will proceed to describe the same with reference to the drawings.
A is abcd-plate of a suitable shape to belet into the saw-table, so as to be lush with the upper surface of the saine, and to extend close to the side of the saw at right angles, or nearly This bed-plate has a doveta-iled groove, a, formed along its entire length of suiiicient size to receive a sliding block, B. Said block is made to lit the groove a, but al-` loWed to move freely therein. A set-screw,
b, passing through the block, near to one of its ends, serves to hold it 'fast at any desired point. L
C is abracket secured to the sliding block B near its other end by means of the pin c, around which it is allowed to turn. To hold it securely i'astin anyr desired position, a setscrew, c', passes through the slot d, which is formed onataiLpiece of the bracket G, and into the sliding block B. The ends of the bracket C are provided with upright lugs cl c'' to hold the pivots c c".
Dis the face-piece oi' the gage, made of a proper length, and having the surface oi the lower end, d, beveled. rllhis face-piece is provided with slotted lugs e e, whereby it is connected with the bracket C, and always kept parallel with the same, the pivots ci" c Working in the slots c' e of the lugs e e. Nuts ff on the pivots c c allor the facepiece of the gage to vbef-securely held at any desired angle. Vhen the nutsff are loosened, thei'acepiece D may be set at any desired angle with the saw-table, and when the set-screw o is loosened the bracket C may be set at an angle with the plane of the sanT to cut tapers.
fhatis here claimed, and desired to be secured by Letters Patent, is-
. rlhe bracket C, pivoted, as at c, and provided with a slot, d, and lock-nut c', in combination with the sliding block B and facepiece D, all arrz'mged and operati ng substantially as shown and des .fribed RUFUS N. MERIAM.
