have invented a new and useful Improvement in Portable Derricks; and I do hereby declare that the following is afull, clear, and exact description thereof,

V' G is the car, to which the hoisting-apparatus is attached. The hoisting-apparatusis not shown in the drawing, as there is nothing new about its construction. The car G is provided with one or more frictionthat by pulling upon the said cord I, the shoulder o catch of the car maybe. raised out of the notchor i rollers, to make it move easily, and with, guards to keep it in place upon the arm F. The car' Gr is so formed as `to bearA only upon its middle part and lower end, 'and has a shoulder upon its lower side, to fit into notches or recesses upon the upper side of the crossearm F.

Having thus described my invention,
I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patentr Il. The car G and ropes H and I, iu combination with the recessed inclined cross-arm F of the vertical pivoted shaft D, substantially as herein shown and described, and for the purposes .set forth.
The double-inclined plane L, and weighted carl K, in combination with the cross-arm F of the vertivcal shaft D of .the dei-rick, substantially as herein shown and described, and for the purpose set forth.
3. An improved portable derrick, formed by the combination of the truck A B C, stand E, shaft D,` cross-arm F, car, G, ropes H I, rope J, weighted vcar K, and double-inclined plane L, with each other, substantially as herein shown and described, and for the purpose set forth.
