Be it known that I, GEORGE HAHN, a citizen vof the United States, residin York city, Brooklyn, county of ings, and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Vegetable-Cutters, of which the following is a' specification.

The frame of the toolI is made in the forni of a stepped U being composed of two handle forming shanks 10, which are con- "nected at their lower ends, and are bent sidewise and upward at their upper ends to form two head forming shanks 11. Of these, shaiiks 10, are placed at greater proximity to each other than shanks 11, so that they may be readily grasped by the hand.

The upper ends of shanks l11, are deflected or inclined real-,ward as at 12, `and t0,these inclined ends there is attached by screws 13, a blade 14, which thus extendsat an obtuse angle to the body of the frame. The upper edge 15 of blade 14 is serrated to constitute an implement adapted for the scaling of fish or similar purposes; the lower edge 16 of the blade is knife-edged to constitute a sheer, while one of the ends 1.7`of the blade lis pointe'd to constitute a parer.l

With knife-edge 16 coperates a gage 18 which is of a width to overlap shanks 11, so as to be'guided th ,reby. Gage 18 is pro-l vided with a foot 9, the two sides 20 of whichare bent up at right angles along dotted lines 21 (Fig. 5). The width of foot 19 is such as to be accommodated' within the slot 22 formed between Shanks 10, while the bent up sides 20 take a bearing against the innPL: sides of said shanks. Foot 19 is s1otte'\..as at 23 for the reception of a thumb at New screw 24 having head 25 and tapped into a plate 26, which is secured to the back of Shanks 1Q by screws 27. lt will be seen that by slacking screw 24, the distance between gage 18 and knife-edge 16 may be adjusted, so as to set the device for cutting slices ot' different thicknesses.

Each shank 10 is straddled by a U-shaped slide 28, and these slides are connected by a piiitle 29, bridging slot 22. Upon pintle 29 is fulcrumed a combined can opener and cork screw, accommodated within said slot and formed from the cruciform blank shown in Fig. 6. The two. side arms 30 of this blank are turned backward at right angles and are perforated toconstitute bearings for pintle 29. The lower arin of the blankis also tiiriied backward and is .if a" length to project beyond the back of the `Trame. I claim: 1. A device of the character described, com

prising a frame having a pair of spaced headforming arms, and an integral pair of spaced handle forming arms, arranged at closer proximity to each other than the head-forming arms, a blade secured to thehead-'lorming arms, a gage guided upon said arms, said gage and arms havin contiguous flat surfaces, a foot integral with the gage and accommodated within the slot intermediate the handleforming arms, and means for adjustably securing said foot to said handle forming arms.
