Be it known that I, OMER A. WILLE'I, a subject of the King of Great Britain, residing at Lawrence, in the county of Essex and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Curtain-Hangers, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to curtain hangers and is designed to provide a hanger wherein a pair of roller curtains may be supported as well as lace curtains.

A further object of the present invention is to provide a means whereby the supports of one roller curtain may be adjusted longitudinally and independently of the remaining supports.

With the above and other objects in View, this invention consists of the construction, combination and arrangement of parts all as hereinafter more fully described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein:

Figure 1 is a front elevation of a device constructed in accordance with the present invention; Fig. 2 is a rear elevation thereof; Fig. 3 is an end elevation, parts thereof being broken away; Fig. 4 is a central longitudinal section; Fig. 5 is a perspective View of the clamping member carrying a support or bracket for one of the roller curtains.

Reference being had more particularly to the drawings, 10 designates an angular casing which carries the elements of the present invention and which is secured to the window frame by the orificed ears orlugs 11 formed therefrom. A longitudinal slot 12 is formed in the body of said casing and provides a means whereby roller curtain hangers may be adjusted and clamped.

A plate 13 spans the casing 10 and en gages the longitudinal sides thereof by the flanges 14 bent from said plate. This plate is also provided with the longitudinal slot 14 which coincides with the slot 12 formed in the casing 10 and provides a means whereby a stud-bolt or screw hereinafter more fully described may pass through said casing and retain said plate in any desired position upon the casing. An ear 15 is formed from said plate and constitutes a bracket, said ear being twisted to right angles as its outer extremity, said twisted portion being bent outwardly to form the bracket proper 15. Avertical rectangular opening 16 is formed in this bracket and provides a means whereby one extremity of a roller shade may be retained.

In order to provide a means whereby lace curtain rods may be supported, a wire member 17 is secured in the casing 10 and projects therefrom. This member 17 is bent to form the U-shaped retaining member 18 which conforms with the formation of the casing and is adapted to bear against the longitudinal sides thereof. At the outer extremity the member 17 is bent outwardly atright angles and then upwardly forming the bracket member 19 on which is fitted or in any removable manner secured the one extremity of the lace curtain rod. The bracket which supports one extremity of the second shade roller performs the double purpose of supporting said roll and clamping said lace curtain rod support 17 in the easing. This member comprises a clamping plate 20 which has on each side thereof the transverse grooves or channels 21 in which are received the arms of the U-Shaped member 18. An interiorly threaded centrally disposed opening 22 pierces said clamping member and is adapted to receive the threaded extremity of the screw 23, said screw being provided with a shoulder 24 adapted to bear against the plate 13, thus clamping and retaining the same in any position in the casing 10. A bracket 25 is formed on the clamping plate 20 and projects through the

12 and 14, having a reduced portion 26 adapted to be engaged by said slots and a shoulder 27 adapted to bear against the surface of the plate 13. A rectangular opening 28 is also formed in this bracket and supplies a means whereby the extremity of the roller may be retained.

From this construction it will readily be understood that the plate 13 and consequently the bracket 15 may be adjusted independently of the bracket 25 by loosening the screw 23 and reciprocating said plate on the casing. Likewise, the bracket 25 and the clamping plate 20 may be adjusted longitudinally independently of the plate 13 carrying the bracket 15. The clamping plate 20 is inserted in the slots by placing the bracket 25 longitudinally with respect to said slots and forcing the same therethrough, then turning the plate 20 about the reduced portion 26 as an axis until the grooves 21 correspond to the arms 18.

Having thus described the invention, what I claim as new is:

In a device of the class described, the combination with a casing having a longitudinally extending slot therein, of a plate U-shaped in cross section reciprocally mounted on said casing having a longitudinal slot therein to register with the slot in said casing, an upwardly extending bracket carried by said plate the upper terminal of said bracket being offset outwardly and a wire bent to conform with the shape of the casing and be retained therein, a portion of said Wire projecting from said casing having the outer terminal thereof offset and bent upwardly to form a bracket adapted to support one terminal of a lace curtain pole,

a clamping plate reciprocally mounted in said casing'pro-vided with a threaded stud projecting through said registering slots, and longitudinal grooves adapted to engage the portion of the wire within the casing, a nut adapted to engage said threaded stud and retain the clamping plate, the wire, and the plate in various positions, with respect to said casing, and a bracket carried by said clamping plate projecting through said slot,

said bracket being located below the bracket carried by said plate, and provided with a channel on each side thereof in which said plate reciprocates.
