T e lnventlon relates to safety razors,

such as are shown and described in the'Letters Patent of the United States, No. 931,778,

granted to me on August 24, 1909.

The object of the present invention is to provide a new and improved safety razor,

arranged to accommodate different makes of thin, flexible blades, and permit ready stropping of the blades and adjustment of the latter relative to the guard, for close shaving.

For thepurpose of accommodating difierent razor blades,--use is made of a pair of clamping plates, and'adjustable means for en aging the apertures, slots or notches in diderent makesof razor blades, at the time they are clamped between the plates. In ormgs forming apartof section of the safety der to allow ready stropping of the razor blades, use is m ade'of a tubular back hinged to one of the clamping plates and adapted to straddle the same, so as to rise even distances from the outer faces of the plates, and in order to rovide for the adjustment of the razor bladbs for close shaving use is made of a liner interposed between the guard plate and the razor blade.

A practical embodiment of the invention is represented in the accompanying drawwhich similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in allthe views.

The guard plate A and the locking plate B of the safety razor are connected together so that one overlies the other, to permit of clamping the razor guard end A of the guard plateA and the end B of the clamping plate B. The guard plate A is provided in one side edge adjacent to the guard with a notch and plate B is formed with an offset and provi ed with a notch in said ofl'set so that when the parts are interlocked as shown in the drawings, the ends of the locking plate lie on opposite sides of the guard plate. In, the guard end A of the plate A are formed elongated slots A A ranging lengthwise of the plate A, and-in which are mounted to slide studs D, D projecting into slots B B formed in the clamprn end B of the clamping plate B. In order to lock the plates A and B together use is made ofla split tube F, provided at one end with an ear F fulcrumed at F on the end A" of the ard plate A.

By reference to Fig. 5, it will be noticed that the tube F rises the same distance frdm the outer faces of the ends A, B, and consequently when the'plate C is stro ped, the angle at the cutting edge of the b ade C is the same during the forward and backward stropping movement of the device on the razor strop.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new'and desire to secure by Letters Patent:

1. In a safety'razor, a pair of plates between which a razor blade is to be held, one of the plates being provided with a guard,
