COMBINED AIR-RIFLE, RUBBER BALL, AND POP-GUN.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 6, 1910.
Application filed December 22, 1908. Serial No. 468,751.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ERNEST S. Ron, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Plymouth, in the county of WVayne and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combined Air-Rifles, Rubber Balls, and PopGuns, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
The invention relates to air guns and consists in the construction as hereinafter set forth.
In the drawings: Figure 1 is a longitudinal section through the barrel; Fig. 2 is an elevation thereof; and Fig. 3 is a view similar to Fig. 1 showing the gun used as a pop un.
6 A is the false barrel and B the true or shooting barrel of the gun, which is arranged concentrally within the false barrel.
0 is the piston abutment which supports the inner end of the true barrel B and con stitutes a seat for the shot.
At the muzzle end of the gun is arranged a cup-shaped member D which fits within the bore of the false barrel and is centrally apertured to engage and support the true barrel. This member D performs the double function of a positioning means for the true barrel within the false barrel and also a pocket for receiving a projectile of greater diameter than the bore of the true barrel. Thus a rubber ball, as illustrated in Fig. 1, may be placed in this pocket, and will be expelled by the air pressure when the gun is discharged. The pocket may also be used for receiving a cork, as illustrated in Fig. 3, where the gun is used as a pop gun.
What I claim as my invention is:
In an air gun, the combination with the false barrel, of a true barrel concentrically arranged therein, and a cup-shaped member of greater cross sectional area than the true barrel arranged at the muzzle end of the false barrel and centrally apertured to engage the outer end of the true barrel, thereby forming a support for the latter, said cup-shaped member being of a contour to engage a ball and having sides extending for a comparatively large portion thereof parallel to and in contact with the sides of the false barrel forming a seat for a cork.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
ERNEST S. ROE.
