Be it known that I, CONRAD SEVERIN, a subject of the King of Prussia, and resident of 17 Theaterstrasse, Gttingen, German Empire, have invented certain new and useful Improvements Relating to Fly-Catchers, of which the following is a specification.

The present invention relates to a flycatcher of the type consisting of a paper column covered with an adhesive and adapted to be collapsed into a box. In such flycatchers the ends of the paper column are fastened to the bottom and cover part of the box, so that when the cover and bottom of the box are separated, the paper column is stretched. Such fly-catchers have the disadvantage that the paper column is very easily torn away from the bottom or cover' part and it is the object of the present invention to' avoid this.

According to the present invention the connection between the ends of the paper column and the bottom and cover part of the box is made by passing the ends of the paper column through a suitable opening in end plates, bending the edges of the paper column over the end plates, preferably fastening these bent over edges to the end-plate in any suitable way and securing the end plates by mechanical means such as wires, to the bottom and cover of the box so that the edges of the column are held both by compression and positively.

The invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which:

section as the prismatic column and these plates are passed over the paper column as shown in Fig. 1. The flaps Z9 are then prefeiiably fastened by a suitable adhesive to the p ate c.

It will be understood of course that the iaps Z) are bent over after the end piece 0 is passed over the paper column. The plate c and flaps b are then bound to the top and bottom parts f and d of the box by mechanical means for instance by wires g riveted over so as to hold the flaps between the plates and the bottom and cover of the box both positively and by compression. The entire fly catcher may then be collapsed into the box formed by the bottom and cover parts f and Z and the paper column is very securely fixed to these box parts.

I claim l. In a fly catcher the combination with an inclosing box, provided with a cover, of a collapsible prismatic paper column, a plate at each end of said column adapted to enter said box, each plate being provided with an opening` corresponding to the normal cross section of said column, flaps integral with each wall of and at each end of said column, each flap being bent over upon the outer face of the corresponding plate, and means for firmly securing said liaps between the bottom and cover of said box and the corresponding end plate.

A hanging iy-catcher comprising a collapsible prismatic chamber open at both ends, horizontal extensions of the side walls of said chamber` at both ends thereof, a cover plate for each end of said chamber, a plate for reinforcing each of said extensions and means for securing said extensions between said cover plates and said reinforcing plates.
