To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, IVILLIAM H. PRALL, a citizen of the United States, residing at lVoodbridge, in the county of Middlesex and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Stove Attachments, of which the following is a specification.

'This invention relates to heat defiecting appliances for use in connection with gaseous burners.

This invention further relates to the novel construction of the device which consists of an oblong flat box, which is bisected horizontally and provided with openings at the opposite ends thereof, in the top and bottom respectively.

This invention further relates to the construction of the top portion of the device wherein a deflector is formed for conducting the products of combustion through the box to the vent opening on the top thereof.

This invention further relates to the bottom portion of the device which extends and abuts the lower part of the upper portion of the deviceterminating in a semicircle at the bottom opening thereof.

With the foregoing and other objects in view, the invention consists in the details of construction and in the arrangement and combination of parts to be hereinafter more fully set forth and claimed.

In describing the invention in detail, ref-v erence will be had to the accompanying drawings forming part of this specifica tion, wherein like characters denote corresponding parts in the several views, in which :-d

Figure 1 represents the device in a longi tudinal section, taken on line 1 1 of Fig. 2; Fig. 2 represents the device in plan or top view; Fig. 3 represents a bottom plan view of the device; Fig. 4 represents the device in side elevation.

The present heat appliance consists of an oblong metallic box A, which is bisected at D, horizontally, thus forming a top portion B, and a bottom portion C, the bottom portion C, terminating and abutting at E, the overhanging portion B of the top portion B. From the abutting end at E, said bottom extends rearwardly as indicated at C, forming a semi-circle or half of the opening Gr. The interior of the box A at the hole Gr, is curved at J, for the purpose of deflecting the flame from a burner into the metallic box A, in the direction of the arrows S, the iiame issuing from the ventopening F. Said vent opening has the end walls H and I thereof considerably thicker than the top K, as indicated in the several figures of the accompanying drawings, Integral with the bottom portion C, is a projection or ear, L, forming a handle for the purpose in view.

Attached to the top K of the device, are ears N, for securing the bisected parts B and C together, through the medium of bolts O, which are flush with the aforesaid ears.

When using the improved heating device the bottom portion C, is put on a gas range with the hole or opening G, immediately over a burner, thus allowing the flames and products of combustion to be deflected by the upper or top portion at J, and pass longitudinally through the heat appliance to the exit or vent opening F, where the intense heat will contact cooking utensils thereon, and also the entire top portion B, will be highly heated, thereby saving the waste products of combustion which would otherwise be lost in the old method of using two burners, whereas only one burner is required with my improved device to produce the same, if not better results.

I do not limit my device to the exact construction as herein shown and described, as other devices may be employed, and come within the scope of the present invention.

That which I desire to claim and secure by Letters Patent, is

In a stove attachment, a box comprising a top portion and a bottom portion, each portion having integral side walls, the top portion having a thickened end formed with a curved under surface and abutting against one of the ends of the lower portion, the abutting portions of the top and bottom being cut-away to form a circular opening adapted to receive the iiames of a burner, and the opposite end of the top portion being formed with a vent opening extending across the same, and means for securing the two portions together.
