' gularymoveinent in' Set f the mounted at their. lower ends for lateral enl "vert .l ne and rulpair of levers il) and 20, l y Reference new to lig. fact that slidingly htted. on each s ndards 9 and l0 is a collar 2l, having opi h are piv- 'idscs "the positely arranged 'ears 2l', to 'e oted the inner ends of the levf in and 2G. rihe out-er ends ot the levers i9 and 2o, erf tend to points lsubstantially intermediate the longitudinal center and opposite sides of the car body 'tiA and connection bet-Ween the outer ends or" which the `torce isv applied Will, cy virtue of the linl: on that side of the body move the outer end of the leverrto which the link is connected, upwardly. This upward movenient ot the outer end of the lever cause f its-inner end to inove in an opposite direction, whereby the inner end oi the opposite lever .vill be moved likewise and its outer end moved upwardly. This upward movement of the outer end of the last-named lever will impart an upward movement to the .link on the opposite side 4of the car and by virtue of the connection between this lastnaincd linlt and the ann at the upper` end oi. the adjacent closure the latter 'will be moved bodily upward as the tilting movement of the car body continues and occu y position shown in Fig. 1When tie parts so positioned ,is evident that the contents of the car Will he discharged tl rough the unsealcd oper Q', lt will be rved, owing the lenffth or", tie arc oit i) movement oi the closure, t ia `when the car is tilted the lower end of the said closure will be in ahorizontel plane with the middle ci' lle upper end of the car body, or substantially so, so that when t1 lowly oit" thev die levers i9 and 2C and arms l2 and i3 s established by means of said vlinlrs i' the leversv .inn/eight may perform the .closing function .equally siswell as .wheu Veluinner ends of #ring the descending connected y .oracle the vclosure is over the discharge openinfr.
Thus it will be seen that have provided a device which may automatically seal the discharge'opening and return the car body to its normal horizontal position.
4lt will beunderstood that the closure cmployedy Will be of sucient .Width to periorm'the function just'described and it will he further observed that the outer ends of the levers i9 and 20, and outer ends of the armsl?. and i3, are provided with a plurality` of spaced openingsg'thus permitting the :ends di? the links to be so positioned, Athat .the required leverage may be exerted by the doors or closures since it can be seen by shifting the lower ends of the links vto the openings atthe outer ends of the levers l? and 2G, that closures comparatively light the links are moved to points adjacent the ulcrums of the levers, and heavier closures used.
From the foregoing it can be seen that l have provided a device which is exceedingly" simple in structure and comparatively inexpensive to manufacture, embodying -ew parts and these so arranged that the danger of derangement Will be reducedto a mini* mum.
