The combination, with a car frame, of tilting buckets journaled therein and arranged to tilt inwardly to discharge their load, a locking mechanism secured to the bottom of one of said buckets near its open end, said mechanism including transversely slidable spring bolts adapted to enter sockets provided in the walls of the other bucket and thereby lock the buckets together, oscillating levers arranged to engage said bolts and draw them inwardly, and a fluid pressure controlled mechanism operatively connected with said levers, for the purpose specified.
5. The combination, with a car frame, of tilting buckets mounted therein, a locking mechanism provided at the abutting inner ends of said buckets, said locking mechanism including transversely sliding bolts, a rod operatively connected with said bolts for drawing them inwardly when said rod is actuated, a fluid pressure cylinder and piston therefor, and a trip lever connected with said actuating rod and in the path of said piston and adapted to be operated by said piston during its initial movement.

In a dump car the combination, with a frame, of tilting buckets journaled therein and arranged to tilt inwardly toward one another to discharge their load, a locking mechanism provided at the meeting ends of said buckets, said locking mechanism being secured to the bottom of one bucket and having means sliding transversely with respect to its bucket to engage and interlock with the other bucket and means for tripping said locking mechanism to release said buckets.
7. The combination, in a dump car with a frame, of tilting buckets journaled therein and arranged to tilt inwardly toward one another to discharge their load, a locking mechanism secured to the bottom of one of said buckets near its inner end and having means to engage and interlock with the other bucket to hold them in their loading position, said locking means sliding in a plane parallel substantially with the plane of the bucket bot-tom whereto it is secured and transversely thereof, and means for tripping said locking mechanism to release said buckets. 8. The combination, in a dump car. with a frame, of tilting buckets journaled therein and arranged to swing inwardly toward one another to discharge their load, a locking mechanism secured to the bottom of one of said buckets near its inner end and including means adapted to interlock with the other bucket and hold both of them in their loading position, and a fluid pressure controlled mechanism for tripping said locking means, substantially as described.
9. The combination, in a dump car with a frame, of tilting buckets journaled therein and arranged to swing inwardly toward one another to discharge their load, a locking mechanism secured to the bottom of one of said buckets near its inner end and including means adapted to interlock with the other bucket and hold them in their loading position, a fluid pressure controlled mechanism for tilting said buckets and means operatively connecting said fluid pressure controlled mechanism with said locking means for tripping said locking means during the initial movement of said fluid pressure controlled mechanism, and before force is applied to tilt said buckets.
10. The combinat on, with a car frame, of tilting buckets journaled therein and arranged to tilt inwardly to discharge their load, a locking mechanism provided at the inner endsof said buckets, said mechanism including a transversely movable means and sockets therefor, and a fluid pressure controlled mechanism for tripping said locking mechanism.
11. The combination, with a car frame, of tilting buckets journaled therein and arranged to tilt inwardly to discharge their load, a locking mechanism provided at the inner ends of said buckets, said mechanism including transversely slidable bolts and sockets therefor, and means for moving said bolts lengthwise to release said buckets.
12. The combination, with a car frame, of tilting buckets journaled therein and arby one of said buckets and adapted to enter sockets provided in the other bucket and thereby normally locking them in a horizon- 15 tal position, and means for retracting said locking means to release said buckets and allow them to tilt to a dumping position.
