CONTROLLING APPARATUS FOR LIBRARIES AND THE LIKE.
Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, UENNATA Urn-1N, a subject of the German Emperor, residing at Liibeck, Germany, have invented new and useful Improvements in Controlling Appa ratus for Libraries and the Like, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to a controlling apparatus which is adapted especially for use in libraries for second hand book sellers shops and collections of same kind.
In the drawing a form of construction of the apparatus is represented.
In the casing a, having a cover cl are arranged on the left side the cards 0 being provided with the signatures of the respective books, journals or other collections. The casing is broader than the cards a in order to enable the librarian to draw the cards on to the right side of the casing. In order to maintain the correct arrangement of the cards 0 every card is provided with a horizontal slit 8 which ends in oblique ascending slits e.
A rod 11 traverses the slits of all cards and can be drawn out of the slits and the casing.
In order to control the collection of cards. the particular cards 0 must I drawn to the right side and they are then secured against unintentional slidingback by their snapping in the left oblique slits c. In the con:- nion position of the cards on the left side of the casing the cannot slide sidewise as the rod Z) engages with the right hand slit {3 of the cards. The cards can be removed by drawing the rod out of the casing.
I claim:
A. controlling apparatus for libraries comprising in combination: a casing (a), cards provided with horizontal slits (a) and ascending oblique slits (e) at their ends a detachable rod (6) mounted in the walls of the casing and traversing the slits (s) of all cards and adapted to engage with the right end slit when the cards are on the left side of the casing and to engage with the left end slit if the cards are drawn to the right side of the casing.
