Be it known that I, JAMES E. Woon, a citizen of the United States, residing at Birmingham, county of Jefferson, State of Alabama, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Harvestingags, of which the following is' a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.

This invention relates to a harvesting bag and particularly to a construction adapted to be carried by the user thereof.

The invention has for an object to provide a bag having a securing belt and a filling opening disposed at the front thereof while its body portion is extendedrearwardly and downwardly at one side of said opening and over the hip of the user so as not to interfere with his free movement while presenting the opening in a position most convenient for filling the bag.

In the drawing-Figure 1 is a side elevation of the bag as applied in use; Fig. 2 is a front elevation thereof; Fig. 3 is a plan of the inner face of the bag; Fig. 4 is a similar view of the outer face thereof; and Fig. 5 is a detail rear perspective.

Like numerals of reference refer' to like parts in the several figures of the drawing.

The numeral 10 designates the body of the bag which may be formed of any desired material or configuration and the inner face 11 thereof is formed or cut to conform to the stomach of the user and is provided with a belt 12 at its upper edge adapted to be secured at the waist of the picker. This inner portion is also formed to extend over the hip and side of the user as shown in Figs. 1 and 2. The outer portion 13 of the bag is permanently secured to the belt 12 at one end 14 and its opposite end 15 is temporarily secured thereto so as to permit its detachment for the purpose of emptying the bag. The outer portion 13 is attached to the body 10 at the rear and by means of an inset portion 16 which provides a space for empty ing when the temporarily attached portion 15 is detached. From the portion 16 a shoulder strap 17 extends and is provided with a buckle or other securing means by which it may be properly adjusted to the user.

" In the application of the invention, the shoulder strap is placed in position and also the belt around the waist of the user which brings the opening at the front of the body so as to be convenient for'lling in use for" picking cotton or other products where the user is required to bend over the plant upon which it grows. The conformation of the inner face of the bag to the stomach, hip and side of the user disposes the body of the bag as it is lilled with material at one side and back of the picker so that he is free to move along the row of plants without interference from the body of'the bag con* taining the product already picked and disposed therein. The detachable flap at the waist-band of the bag permits it to be readily opened for a discharge therefrom while the body of the bag is disposed at one side of the user so as not to interfere with his assuming a stooping position nor his movements in collecting the product.

It will therefore be seen that this invention presents a bag having its upper portion made to conform to the contour of the front and side of the body of its user with the filling opening disposed at the front and the whole attached by a waist belt while the shoulder strap, extending downwardly to the body of the bag, supports the weight of the material collected therein.

Having described my invention and set forth its merits, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

1. A flexible harvesting bag provided with a securing belt and a filling opening at the front thereof and an elongated body portion extended rearwardly and downwardly at one side of said opening and at substantially a right angle thereto to form an intermediate contractable throat.

2. A flexible harvesting bag provided with a securing belt and a filling opening at the front thereof and an elongated body portion extended rearwardly and downwardly at one side of said opening and at substantially a. right angle thereto to form an intermediate contractable throat, and a flap detachably secured at one side of said opening.

3. A flexible harvesting bag provided with a securing belt and a filling opening at the front thereof and an elongated body portion extended rearwardly and downwardly at one side of said opening and at substantially a right angle thereto to form an intermediate contractable throat, and a shoulder strap extended from the body portion of said bag to the securing belt therefor.

4.
