IMPRovED TRUss- To all whom. it may concern Be itknown that l, G. MAYER, of Sullivan, in the county of Moultrie, and State ot' Illinois, have invented a new and improved Truss; and l do hereby declare that .the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereot', which will'enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part oi' this specication.

Thisinvntionrelates to improvements in trusses for hernia, and has for Aits object to provide a. simple, cheap, and e'ective construction ot' the same, and in adjustable arrangement of the pads, to be either worn single ordouble, and adapted for males or females;

and

it consists in arranging oblong pads in triangular pieces, that are sustained by two lstraps from the belt, secured upon the opposite corners ot' the pieces, in connect-ion with a strap that unites the pieces together. x'

The drawing represents a tiont view of my improved truss applied to a human subject.

A is .the waistband, to be applied to the waist by bucklingr behind at B, and may be provided with snspendels C or not, as pretelred.

1) represents short straps, pendant from the front ot' the \\'aistbaiul,..in two pairs, in suitable position at each side ot' the centre of the front, tor the connection ofthe broad' strap E, to which the pads F 'are connected. v

G represents two similar short straps, pendant from the waistband behind, for the connection of the single straps H, which are continuations of the broad straps E, and pass between the thighs, as shown in dotted lilies. y

'lhe upper 'parts of' the broa'l pad-holding straps E are provided with two short and narrow straps, corresponding to the straps l), and buckled to them so as to be let ont or falten np, as required, tok bring the pads higher or lower, as may berequired, according `to the locatioimf the rupture,lthe straps H beingr correspondingly adjusted.

The wide straps holding kthe pads may be connected together by a shortstrap, I, to drawjtlxe pads away from the' thighs when worn by females, and required to he very'low, but made removable for adaptation to anales.

In this improved truss, no steel or other metaliic plates or springs are used, which it is highly desirable to avoid, as theysometimes chai'e and injure the wearer.

Having thus described my invention,

I claim' as new, and desire 'to secure by 'Letters Patentl lhe arrangement of' waistband A, front straps D, back straps G, pad straps E, and detachable. strap I, all'constrncted Iand shaped with respect to each other, in the I nannerdescribed.
