ANTHONY W. NACK, 0F WAYNE, INDIANA.
WRAPPER OR RECEPTAGLE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July 5, 1910.
Application filed December 10, 1909. Serial No. 532,481.
To all whom it mag concern:
Be it known that I, ANTHONY W. NAOK, of Fort Wayne, in the county of Allen and State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Wrappers or Receptacles; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to improvements in wrappers or receptacles and more particularly to such as are adapted to contain laundered articles, the object of the invention being to provide a device of the character specified into which laundered articles can be readily placed and then be inclosed in such manner as to effectually exclude dust etc.
A further object is to provide a laundry wrapper or receptacle which shall be made of a single piece of cardboard and adapted to be so folded as to afford means which Will inclose the end portions of the laundered articles within the wrapper or receptacle.
With these objects in view the invention consists in certain novel features of construction and combinations of parts as hereinafter set forth and pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a view of the blank from which the wrapper or receptacle is made. Fig. 2 is a view of the device partly folded. Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the device completely folded and fastened, and Flg. 4 is a transverse sectional view.
The blank from which the wrapper is made is scored longitudinally on the lines 1-2 and the portion between these lines will form the bottom 3 of the wrapper. The blank is also scored longitudinally on lines 45 parallel with and a short distance from the lines 12. That portion of the blank between the lines 1 and 1 and 2 and 5 will form, when the wrapper is folded, the sides 6 of the same, while the portions which extend laterally from the lines 4; and 5, form the cover flaps 7-8 for said wrapper. At the ends of the bottom portions 3, the blank is scored transversely on the lines 9-1O and a short distance from the lines 910 the blank is scored on lines 11-12,the space between the lines 9-11 and 10-12 forming the ends 13 of the wrapper. The blank is cut to form short tongues 14: at respectiveends of each end portion 13. The portions 15 beyond the ends 13 are scored on the lines 1617, the former being in alinement with the scores l2 and the latter being in alinement with the scores 4-5. The portions 18 at each end of the device will, when folded, be disposed parallel with the portions 15 and with the bottom 3, while the portions 19 will lie parallel with the sides 6 and the short tongues 14: will be disposed against the side portions 19. WVith such construction boxes or receptacles 20 will be formed at respective ends of the device, as shown in Fig. 2, for the reception of the end portions of the laundered articles to be inclosed. When the laundered articles shall have been placed upon the bottom 3 with their ends projecting into the boxes or receptacles 20 the sides 6 and cover flaps 78 will be folded over so as to inclose the articles within the device and to also inclose the boxes or receptacles 20,the latter then serving to eifectually exclude the entrance of dust etc., through the ends of the wrapper.
Tapes 21 are threaded through slits in the portions 3, 6, 7 and 8 near respective ends thereof and the maj or portions of said tapes will be inclosed within the wrapper so as to minimize the danger of their engagement with devices into which the wrapper may be brought into contact. The free ends of the tapes are of sufiicient length to be tied together as shown in Fig. 3 when the cover flaps 7 and 8 are overlapped.
Having fully described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters-Patent, is,
1. A wrapper of the character described, comprising a bottom member, side members integral with the side edges of the end members, cover members integral with the side edges of the side members, end members integral with the ends of the bottom members, and foldable receptacles projecting from the outer or upper edges of the end members, said receptacles having members to lie parallel with the bottom, cover and side members.
2. A wrapper of the character described, comprising a bottom member, side members integral with the side edges of the end members, cover members integral with the side edges of the side members, end members integral with the ends of the bottom member,
foldable receptacles projecting from the outer or upper edges of the end members, said receptacles having members to lie parallel with the bottom cover and side members, and tongues prqecting from the ends of the end members and foldable Within said receptacles.
In testimony whereof, I have signed this specification in the presence of two subscrib-
