To all whom it may concern.'

Be it known that I, .ANDREW J. TICE, a citi-zen of the United States, residing at Salem, in the county of Columbiana and State of hio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Credit-Cabinets;. and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the' same,'reference being had to the accompanying drawings, maklng apart of this specification,y and tothe numerals of reference marked thereon, in which- Figure 1 isa verticalv section of the'credit cabinet,- illustratingthe leaves in elevation and showing thesamein dotted lines inv their Vlower or` `horizontal positions, except the rearxnost leaf which is shown elevated. Fig.

The resent invention has relation to filing cabinets and it consists in thenovel arrangement hereinafter described and particularly ointed out in the claims. l

In the accompanying drawing, l represents the casing or frame 'which is of the usual constructlon and its specific construc-y tion may be varied without departing from thel natu-re ofthel invention as the frame or casing' so far as its specicconstruction is concerned does: not enter into the' present invention, except that a frame or casing of some kind must-necessarily be present. The

frame or easing' is: provided with the shelf 2 which is held in oper elevation by means of the back and sides of' the easin to which backv and sides the shelf is attac ed in any convenient and well known manner.

For the purpose of holding the plate 5 in fixed position with reference to the shelf 2, the bar 3 is provided at its ends with the pivoted catch bars 6, which catch bars when brought under the raised fia-tiges 7 on bar 4 as illustrated i-n dotted lines Fig. 7, will come over the plate 5, thereby, securely hold-v ing the plate 5 in fixed position. The plate 5 is hingedto the front basebar 7, to which is attached the front leaf 8 as hereinafter described. In order that a series of leaves may be hinged together and in suchz aman` ner that a predetermined number cf leaves may be properly hinged together the bottom edge of each leaf is provided with al base bar 9, which is formed of suchv a width that the hinge plates 10 can be properly attached andthe plates joined together by means of the common and well known hinge connection. It isiwell-understood by those skilled in the art' that it is desirable toadd `to ory by, increasing or decreasing the number ofl leaves contained in the set of leaves.

For the purpose ofv providing means for securely connecting the leaves lllto the variousbars 9, said ,bars are provided with the slotted Shanks l2, through the slot of each of which the metal of a: leaf is passed and foldedy around one member of the shank 12, afs-illustrated in Fig; 6. The opposite member of the shank 12 is provided with the covering '18, which is formed of metal preferably corresponding in thickness with the metal from which the leaves are formed. This arrangement is intended to aid in forming a construction.V The folded port-ion of the leaf and the" covering 13 are properly riveted to the Shanks 12 by means o rivets 14. n

In use the series of leavesare placed in the casing as illustrated in Fi 1, the front leaf 8 having the retaining` p ate 5 located substantially as shown in Fig.' 1, which front they leaf together with the remaining leaves of the series are 'held in substantially vertical position .by means of the curved arms 16, which curved arms are plvoted at points below the shelf -2 upon. the studs 17 or their equivalents.

For the purpose of preventlng the rear leaf from tilting forward or following the" movement ofthe leaves directly in front of the said rear` leaf the post 21 is provided upon which post is placed the pivoted loop -or -eye 22said loopor eye being pivotally attached to the rear leaf 2 2@A by means ofthe clip 23 or its equivalent. Having fullyl described my invention, what I claim as new' and'desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
