Be it known that I, J. C. LoNGsHonE, of Mansfield,

in the county of Richland, and State of Ohio, have in- "vented a new and improved Clothes-Drying Frame and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the ait to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part of -this specification.

The invention relates to improvements in clothesdrying frames, designed to provide a convenient and simple apparatus, capable of being readily extendedl for use, or contracted to be placed out of the way.

It consists in an'arrangement of parallel extensible and eontractible frames, of lazy-tongs construction, united-by transverse bars, and provided with supports, capable of supporting the same, when extended horizontally or vertically, as hereinafter more fully specied.

A A represent two`pairs of lazy-tongs, extensible and leontractible frames, connected by transverse bars B, some of whiqh serve for the pivot-joints of the extensible frames A. These transverse bars serve for v.hanging the clothes whenthe apparatus is extended.

For supporting these bars in the extended position, lI provide a frame, O, of rectangular form, made of light bars of wood, having notches D, wherein the transverse bars B, of either end, may be engaged, as represented in the drawings.

For varying the amount ofthe extension, any number otthese notches may be provided, to hold the said bars engaged by them, nearer to or further from each other.

-For maintaining theapparatus in a horizontal position, the frame C may be placed against or secured tothe side of a house or fence, and posts E, slotted as represented at F and G,1n`ay be employed for supporting the outer end.
