To all whom it may t'Oitt'lllt.
lie it known ilmt 1. Sam at. lhn-zsxttu. a citizen of the l'uited Slates, residinat thieago. county of toolt', aml h'tate oi Illinois. have invented eeriain new and u eful Imu'ovements iu b'uit-(ases, oi whieh the folowiug is a s|weiiieation.
My invention relates to improvements in suit. cases, the ob'ect ol' the invention being the production ot u suit ease which shall be less ex iensive ot' nutuut'aeture, more durable am neuter in appearance than the suit cases in common use.
A further object of my invention is to provide such a construction that a minimum muuber of parts is required in the manufacture, amt tints avoid a muuber of joints wells, and seams which are apt to tear am rip when subjected to rough usage. Other ob'eets will appear lu-reinat'ter.
Vith these objects in view my invention consists in the novel eonstruction amharmngement of parts which will be hereinat'ter fully described and more partienlarly pointed out in the up tended eiaim.
.\lv invention will he more readily understood by reference to the aemmpanyiug drawings t'ormiu a part of this spa-Hiration, and in whit-ii,
' Figum t is a perspective view of my im- I proved suit. ease in its n-et'erred form. Fig. 2 is an end elevation t iereot' partly in tion showing the same in th open position Fig. 3 is a detail view shutting the form oi blank used in tanking the bottom of the ease. Figs. 4 and 5 are detail views showing the blanks used in making earner-pieces for the case, Fig. ti is a transverse section showing the method of attaching the sides to the bottom of the case, Fig. 7 is a detail view showing the form of blank used in making the sides and top of the case, Fig. 8 is a detail view showing the method of m'erlappiug a eorner ot' the ease, and Fig. 0 shows the forming of a eorneriiece for attaching the same to a eornet' of t w case.
Referring now to the drawiugm l designates the sides of the ease ulul 2 the bottom thereof. a blank for the former being shown in Fig. 7 and the blank for the latter in Fig.
Specification 0! Letters Patent.
Application tiled December 29. 1909.

Serial No. 535.480.
- 'l lu' blault' L. for the bottom is substantia ly re tangular in form. and the corners T llu-reol' are rounded to permit the end porlltilt. and a bottom llap oi' the ease to overlap. titching holes being formed adjacent. the edge as shown.
-ide 1. top portion :i,end mrtious 4 and bottom tlap it are formed rom a sin le blank. the side I being separated from he other parts by creasing, as shown. The length of the end portions t is equal to the width of the side i. and the length of the top portion and bottom ilap iu' equal to the length of the side i, the utter being cut. away and rounded at the corners ti stitchin holes being provided as in the bottom The end portions 4, top portions 3, and bottom .3 are seemed to metallic bin 0 frumes l'v' by pasting or otherwise. '1 e eorneriltttS 8 are suitably formed and Hllltlitt to the upper corners of the case, and the eoruer-pieees 2', formed somewhat lar 1 than the corner-pieces 8, are stitched to t m lower corners of the ease. The eoruer-pieees 8 have large ends and parallel portions 8' and the eorner-pieees it have V-shaped notches it) whieh are provided to facilitate overlap ting.
.\s a oresaid the manner of forming the eorner-piews for attaching to the corners of the case is shown in Fig. i), the stitching holes of the fornwr being arranged to legisier with the stitching holes of the latter.
While' I have shown what i deem to be the preferable form of my invention 1 do not wish to be limited thereto as there might be various elmn 'es nuule in the details of eonstraeiion um arrangement of parts described without. de un'tmg from the invention. and heuee l tesirto avail myself of sueh variations and mmlitleatious as fairly fall within the seopeot' the appended claim.
Haring des rilx-d my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patient is:
-nit ease formed of two hinged parts, each of said parts comprising a ingle side member having integral top and end portions and a bottom tla a single bottom member for both of suit parts overlapping and secured to the bottom flaps, each of said side members being cut away and rounded at its corners and the ends of the top and side portions and bottom fiup being overlapped s and secured together, and corner pieces socured over the corners of said case, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
