To all whom it may concern;

Be it known that I, JULftIs GALL, a citizen of the United States, residin at Ableman, in the county of Sauk an' State of Wisconsin, have invented new and useful Improvements in Hanging Cabinets, ot which the following is a specification.-

My invention relates to hangin cabinets; and it has for its object to provi e a hanging cabinet embodying such a construction that thin and inexpensive material may be utilized in the manufacture of its hangers, in such manner that the hangers are possessed of the requisite stifi'ness and strength, and the lower sections of the hangers are adjustable as to height on the upper sections thereof.

Other advantageous characteristics of the invention will be fully understood from the following description and claim when the same are read in connection with the drawings, accompanying and forming part of this specification, in which:

I prefer to connect the shelf E- to the arms 9 as stated, but do not desire to be understood as limiting myself to the said connection, inasmuch as when desired the shelf may be simply placed on the arms I employ a back for holding the hangers C together and against swinging movement in ependently of each other, and I also utilize the said back as a stop for books or other articles laced on the shelf. -B y reason of the manner in which the sections a and b are constructed, it will be observed that they are possessed of great stiffness and strength, notwithstanding the thinness of the sheet-metal utilized; and it will also be observed that while the sections 6 are adapted to be readily adjusted up and down on the sections a to position the shelf at the proper height and to be as readily fixed with res ect to the sections a, there is no liability either section I) being permitted to casually move downward a, under the weight imposed on the shelf E.

In addition to the practical advantages ascribed to the improved hanging cabinet, it

will be appreciated that while the construction of the cabinet is simple and inexpensive, it is calculated to enhance rather than detract from the finished appearance of an apartment.

Having described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters-Patent, 1s:

In a hangin cabinet, the combination of hangers space apart and respectively comprising an upper section of thin sheet-metal having its upper portion bent into a hook; v

a lower section having a vertical portion comprising a front thickness and flanges thereon straddling the vertical edges of the upper section, an integral arm 'bent forwardly from the lower end of the said front thickness, an integral inclined portion bent upwardly from said arm and extending between the same and the vertical portion, and a set screw bearin in said inclined portion and the front thic ness of the vertical portion and engaged with the upper section to serve the two-fold function of connecting said portion and adjustably fixing the lower section on the upper section; a back extending between and connected to the vertical portions of the lower sections; and a shelf carried on the arms of the said lower sections.
