Abstract

A laundry rack, towel rail, shelf or other suitable portable item supported by means of brackets which utilize the corrugated metal thermal fins at the rear of a radiator from which they are supported and can also be used hooked over the top of a door, railing or other suitable structure.

Description

VERSATILE LAUNDRY RACK DESCRIPTION.
Techmcal Field.
This invention relates to laundry racks, towel rails, shelves or similar temporary support structures and in particular their method of support from the top of a radiator, door or other suitable structure.
Background Art.
Laundry racks which hang over a door serve that purpose alone or towel rails or shelves attached to the wall above a radiator or inside a wardrobe for instance.
Dlsclosure Of Invention.
According to the invention there is provided a support rack which is multifunctional and can act as a laundry rack or towel rail or wardrobe type support shelf and is supported above a radiator or from the top of a door or from a bracket, or any other suitable stable structure by means of support brackets herein described.
. Ftg !.-Genera ! Arrangement shows a laundry rack assembly supported from and around the top of a radiator by means of brackets herein described attached to or forming part of the bottom of each support arm. The brackets clip over the top and into the cavities behind the radiator formed by the corrugated metal thermal fins at the rear of the radiator, resulting in the laundry rack being held sufficiently firm in the plane perpendicular to the face of the radiator by means shown. When a folding type laundry rack without lateral restraint on a plane parallel to the face of the radiator is supported the support arms are shown sloping inwards (or could be outwards) on a plane parallel to the face of the radiator as shown so that they wedge against each opposite face inside the vertical cavities at the top of the corrugated metal fins and at the bottom of the support rackets tat the opposite side thus providing lateral restraint and preventing transverse rotating movement parallel to the radiator. If there is lateral restraint in the supported structure then the arms could be sprung inwards (or outwards) against this restraint to give additional rigidity if required. One example shows a laundry rack supported from the top of a radiator and the other shows the same laundry rack supported from the top of a door Figs 2, shows a section, rear view and plan of typical example of a single sided support bracket inside the cavity of the corrugated metal fins at the rear of the radiator.
Fig 3, shows profile of double sided support bracket with both front and rear face of radiator restraints and also various alternative positions of arms which may be required to form part of or be attached to the parent structure and is typical for all the other brackets.
Fig 4, is similar except for a sloping arm which is able to wedge between the faces of varying widths of cavities.
Fig 5, shows a double sided support bracket without restraint against the front face of the radiator and like the remaining brackets is able to wedge between the faces of varying widths of cavities.
Fig 6. shows same support bracket inside wider cavity.
Fig 7, shows single sided support bracket with front of radiator restraint together with a wedge shape profile and also showing alternative shapes which may be required for the parent structure.
Fig 8, shows a single sided support bracket without face of radiator restraint but able to be used for different widths of radiator.
Fig 9. as used on Fig 8, but with wider cavity.
Fig 10. General Arrangement Of Two Piece Type Laundry Rack Assembly 1. Supported from the top of a radiator by means of brackets forming part of each end of the arms of a support bracket with the laundry rack hooked under and over cross members of the support bracket.
2. Supported from top of door.
3. Support bracket used as towel rail. or when walkway is required.
4. Laundry rack suspended beneath the support bracket and used for laundry smalls or when walkway is required or for storage purposes.
Fig 1 l. Supported from rear top of the radiator with continuous cross member and from the front of radiator..
Fig 12. Brackets to accommodate laundry rack for storage purposes.
Fig 13. One piece with cross member supported from rear top and front of radiator.
The brackets are each made from one piece of plastic coated, stainless or plated metal wire or plastic which is not restricted to a round section and may be made as separate entities to be welded or attached to support structures or be an integral part of the support of the parent structure.

Claims (9)

1. A laundry rack assembly comprising a rack in the form of a frame with at least one cross member with the attachment means at the ends of the frame formed in a double sided manner so that they support the frame above the top of a radiator by means of the formed ends being inserted into cavities at the rear of the radiator in order to support a laundry rack or a towel rails and provide a secure attachment or alternatively the other ends may be hooked over and supported from the top of a door or other support and can be made comprising of one or more sections which may fold or be seperated or be attached to each other.
2. A laundry rack assembly according to claim 1, wherein the ends of the frames are formed in single sided manner for support above the radiator only.
3. A laundry rack assembly according to claims 1, and 2, wherein the support profile is such that it is able to clip inside the cavities behind the radiators formed by the corrugated metal thermal fins at the rear of the radiator.
4. A laundry rack assembly according to any preceding claim wherein when lateral support is required to increase the rigidity of the laundry rack assembly on the plane parallel to the face of the radiator the support arms can be sloping inwards or outwards to each other so that they wedge against each opposite face inside the vertical cavities at the top of the corrugated metal fins at the opposite sides at the bottom of the support arms.
5. A laundry rack assembly according to any preceding claim wherein the support brackets are profile such that they are able to wedge between the faces of varying widths of cavities behind the radiators.
6. A laundry rack assembly according to any preceding claim wherein the support brackets can have different profiles each able to cater for the differences in the widths of cavities, be part of or be welded to support arms.
7. A laundry rack assembly according to any preceding claim which can be made in one or two sections where one part can act as a towel rail
8. A laundry rack assembly according to any preceding claim where the laundry rack section can be disconnected and stored inside storage wardrobe.
9. A laundry rack assembly substantially as described herein with reference to Figures I to 13 of the accompanying drawings.
