trap for flies and the like, comprising apertured screens ada ted to entrap the insects, and so constructe as to permit of the same being removably used on screen-doors, windown-screens and like protections.

My invention further relates to simple, durable and economical means for catchlng flies, comprising apertured screens removably fastened to doors, windows and like protections.

My invention still further relates to certain parts and combinations of the same, adapted to form a trap, as will be hereinafter more fully described and particularly defined in the claim.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which sim lar characters of reference denote corresponding parts in all the views, and in whicht Figure 1 isa front elevation of a door, with my device removably fastened thereto; Fig. 2 is a front elevation of a window, with my device removably fastened thereto;

Fig. 3 is a front elevation of my device,

showing reinforcing rods secured thereto; and Fig. 4- is a sectional view taken on the line -14 in Fig. 3, looking in the direction of the arrows.

Before proceeding to describe my invention, it will be understood that Fig. 1 shows my invention as removably fastened to a door,- Fig. 2 shows it as removably fastened .to a window, and Figs. 3 and 4show the detail construction of my invention adapted to be fastened to either a door, window or window-screen, or the device can be used separately as a trap suspended in any convenient place for catching flies and the like, as heretofore mentioned.

A door 10 having a suitable knob 11 and hinges 12 has fastened thereto on one side of the samea straight wire screen 13. For appearance, the'door 10 is shown havin two separate screen compartments 14 anc 15 separated across piece 16. Remow ably secured on the other side of the door 10 by suitable holding members 17 is a wire screen 18, having a series of inwardly-extending conically-shaped entrances 19, constituting passagewaysinto an iuclosure 20, formed by the straight screen 13 and the screen 18 having therein the conical entrances 19. A suitable door 21 secured by a catch 22, is rovided at the lower extremity of the inc osure 20 and. permits of easy access to the said inclosure. The screen 18 can be easily removed at any time to permit of cleaning or repairing the same, and if a quantity of refuse or decayed matter collects in the inclosure 20, thedoor 21 can be easily opened and the said matter removed.

In Fig. 2, my device is shown as attached to a window or window-screen. The holding members 23 securely but removably hold the screen 24, having conically shaped entrances 25, in place on the frame 26 of the said window. Reinforcin rods 27 securely protect the screens from eing pressed together by a strong wind or the like.

When my screen-trap is applied to a door, as shown in F i 1, a fly or the like trying to get past the door naturally locates one of the entrances 19 and after going through the same is trapped in the inclosure 20, where itsoon (lies and falls to the bottom of the said inclosure. \Vhen a quantity of flies have been thus secured they are extracted from the trap by means of the door 21, or the screen 18 .can be quickly removed and the trapped flies can be extracted therefrom.

My device can be arran ed so that the screen having the conical-s aped entrances 19 can be fastened on either the inside or the outside of a door, and it will be understood that the window screens or doors having my trap attached can be made with orwithout the reinforcing rods 27.

It will be understood that aside from having my device attached to windmv-screens, doors and the like, my invention can be constructed as a trap only and adapted to be suspended from a hook or like member in a suitable locality infested by flies 01' the like. It will be furthermore understood that the door attached to the straight screen for gaining access to the aforementioned inclosure can be dispensed with either on window-screens or doors, or can be used on either window-screens or doors, the advisability of using or not using the same being determined by the existing conditions. It Wlll be still furthermore understood that any fly-attracting liquid or the like can be inserted between the screens on a tray or other suitable containing means.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent: 1

In combination, an auxiliary frame adapted to removably engage a main frame, screens on the auxiliary frame, one of the said screens having inclined portions and the said screens having their edges in en-- gagement and the intermediate portions of the screens spaced apart to form a chamber,

' and screw-t reade a door hingedly secured on one of the screens, for ainin access to the chamber, means engaging the auxiliary frame and the said screens, for detachably securing the auxiliary .frame to the main frame.
