Description

F. HOFAUKER.
SLEEVE BOARD.

uy- F 9224172291 UNITED STATES PATENT QFFICE.
FRED HOFACKER, 0F PORTLAND, MAINE.
SLEEVE-BOARD.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRED HorAoKER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Portland, in the county of Cumberland and State of Maine, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sleeve-Boards; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to sleeve boards and the object of the invention is the provision of a device of this character which may be removably connected to a suitable support and turned around in a circle so as to make the work carried thereby accessible.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a supporting device for a sleeve board which positively holds the board upon the support and prevents its accidental dis-' placement at the same time permitting its rotary movement.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a side elva tion; Fig. 2 is a horizontal section taken on the line 22 of Fig. 1; and Fig. 3 is a detail vertical section taken through the standard.
Referring more especially to the drawing, 1 represents the ironing board which is constructed in the usual manner and in this instance is provided on its under-face with a socket 2. On the rear end of the underneath side of the board opposite the socket is a clip 3 and on the forward side of the socket there is a similar clip 4. The clip 3 is provided with a wide overhanging jaw 5, and the clip 4 is provided with a narrow overhanging jaw 6, for a purpose which will now be described.
The attaching or mounting device co1n prises a clamping jaw 7 with a clamping screw 8 passing through one side thereof which is adapted to engage the support to which the mounting device is attached. The upper jaw of the clamping member is provided on its under-face with a channel 9, in which the bolt head 10 of the standard bolt 11 is adapted to rest. This bolt passes through the tubular standard 12 and has a nut 13 upon its outer end which secures the circular table 14:, in place upon the stand- Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed August 19, 1909.
Patented May 3, 1910. Serial No. 513,677.
ard. The nut 13 is seated in the depressed or cup-shaped portion 15 of the table let and the bolt 11 projects considerably above the upper face of the table so as to enter the socket 2. The periphery of the table is notched as at 16 so as to permit the passage of the jaw 6.
In operation, one edge of the table 14 is placed beneath the jaw 5 and the end of the bolt 11 seated in the socket, the jaw 6 passing through the notch 16. The board is then revolved a half turn which brings the notch 16 under the jaw 5 and this prevents the re moval of the board from the supporting standard until the jaw 6 is made to register with the notch 16 in the table. The jaw 5 being too large to pass through the aperture 16, and being upon the rear of the board with the greatest weight of the board being at the forward end, the board is always pre vented from disengagement until its forward or heavy end is elevated with the aperture 16 registering with the jaw 6.
From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, the construction and operation of the invention will be readily understood without requiring a more extended explanation.
Various changes in the form, proportion and the minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the principle or sacrificing any of the advantages of this invention.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is A sleeve board having a socket therein, a pair of retaining members on opposite sides of the socket, a supporting standard, a table carried thereby and having a notch adapted to register with one of the retaining members, and a bolt holding the parts of the supporting standard together which pro jects through the table and enters the socket to hold the table in operative engagement with the retaining members.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
FRED HOFAOKER. Witnesses:
