Be it known 'that I,'LTER- g a citizen of the United States-, .Ifes1d1ng 1n Hartford, in the county of I-Irutfordand State of Connecticut, haveinventedpertain new and useful Improvements in LIype ofwhich the following is a specification.
This invention relates ,to'the paper-carry ing and feeding devices of typewriting machines,
along sheet is retained in the machine, while a shorter sheet is removed and a third sheet inserted, the longshee't preserving a carbon record of the, entries madeon t e smaller, sheets. v
A main object of the invention is to-pro .vide simple, inexpensive and, efiicient means to feed and guide the paper around the platen, and to retain thelong record sheet in the machine during the removal and infirst, a number of checks 3' I .side edges of the paper, which heretofore has not been found practicable when thesheets were held in smooth contact with-the platen by, their side ed es,
front strike writing machines. In carrying out my invention, I hinge upon the platen frame another frame, coasist' .of a pair of arms connected by rods; exten ingalong the platen, one of said rods carrying paper-feeding and guiding devices I which are adgustable along the platen. Each of these feeding and guiding devices com prises a yoke,'onearm'ofjwhich has opposite hngers. One of the fingers extends down to gulde the leading edge of the paper, and has a roller to feed the paper after it has left the usual bottom feed rollers, and also to retain the long record sheetin the machine.
during the removal. and insertion of the small or original sheets. The other finger extends up to form a handle to manipulate the yokes or swing them about the r and Specification of L'etters'hatent. Application filed April 1 5,190 8.- SerialNo. {27,148.

The. yokes have s in lock themthereon w en ning upon the platen. w "The long record sheet hangs over the back of the machine, fwhere it-is in the way when. removing and insertin the smaller sheets,
and to overcome this isadvantage I- hin e" the rollers are run-f the record :sheet resting thereon are'thrown pressed rollers or keys to engage a groove ok'e-support'ing rod, to
upon the frame an auxiliary aper tab e w ich is inovable' to and fro. en a-srnall or original sheet is to he removed and anew forward over. the platen, and the smaller or original sheets may then be readily removed an paperv ,feeding' and" guiding devices and auxiliary table, may he swung up away from moval of the long record sheets; I' also pro ers are-running upontheplaten; i

Another sheet [with carbon is 'then introduced around the platen, the feed rollers '36, 37 are 1 thrown in engagement with the platen, and the auxiliary, paper table 25 is thrown back to,
