To all whom 'it may concern:

Be it known that I, VVILI-IELM SGHOOKE, a subject of the German Emperor, and resident of Cassel, Germany, have invented a Combined Seat and IValking-Stick, of which the following is a specification.

The subject of this invention is a stick with seat of thetype wherein the seat can be detached from the stick, and can be folded up, while the stick can be folded up independently of the seat. It differs from other known types in that the stick can be used as a walking stick when the seat is attached as well as when it is detached. The ability to use the stick as walking stick, even with the seat attached is a great advantage especially when one has frequently to change ones position when shooting. As the stick can be folded together it can easily be carried about in the knapsack,

The advantage of being able to use the stick, with seat attached, as a walking stick, is in the present case obtained by the use of a link to connect the two parts of the stick and a coupling for these parts, the connecting link being so constructed that it can grip around the stick and enables the two parts to be coupled together. A comfortable seat can be obtained owing to the fact that one or more of the supports of the seat can be fixed automatically at the hinge.

Figure 1 shows the stick without a seat, as walking stick. Fig. 2 shows the stick with seat attached. Fig. 3 is a plan of the seat from below. Fig. st shows the seat folded together. .Fig. 5 shows the stick as walking stick, fitted with a dilferent coupling. Fig. 6 is an enlarged view of the coupling. Fig. 7 shows the same stick folded up, and Fig. 8 is another form of coupling.

The stick consists of two parts a and 6, connected together by the link 0. .Vhen the stick is straightened out, the parts a and I) are coupled together by a sleeve (Z which is slipped over them. This is also the case when the seat is attached to the bottom half Z) of the stick by means of the ring 6, (Fig. 2) except that the sleeve does not project so far over the end of the. lower half I). If the stick is to be used as a seat, the upper part a is swung .downward, as shown in Fig. 2. In order to prevent the part a from swinging to and fro, it is screwed by slippingthe sleeve (Z over two pins f which are Specification of Letters Patent.

fastened to the lower part b. A slot is provided in the sleeve d to enable it to be slid up and down without the link being in the way. The detachable seat has three supports g g g hinged to the ring 6. One of the supports 9 is tube shaped and a cross piece 2' is fitted in the end. This cross piece engages with a hook shaped pin it fitted on the ring 6 and serves to hold the support in position when the seat is adjusted. (Fig. 3). By this means a comfortable and hygienic seat is obtained.

The parts of the stick can be coupled in various ways, for instance instead of the sleeve (Z, a bolt Z actuated by a spring k could be used. (Figs. 5 and 6). By pulling the ring m, which is connected to the bolt Z by a rod n, the bolt Z can be pulled out of the stick so that the latter can be folded together. (Fig. 7 The ring m serves at the same time to secure the position of the stick, by gripping a projection 0 on the part 6. Instead of the ring m a movable sleeve 79 could be employed as handle for the bolt, the rod 1% being attached to p by a pin 9. (Fig. 8).

In order to prevent the stick from swelling up under the influence of moisture, the upper part b, which receives the bolt, or the pin for the reception of the seat respectively, are made in the form of a closed cap, whereby it is also possible to attach the seat with its ring 6 and then to turn the seat completely around. This makes it unnecessary for the sportsman to stand up when he desires to shoot at anything behind him, as he can turn with the seat about the stick.

Having fully described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. Combined seat and walking stick, comprising in combination, an upper stick half (a), a lower half (1)), a hinge (0) connecting said stick halves, a pin on the lower stick half, a seat, a ring (0) on said seat, said ring fitting over said pin, by which means the seat is attached to the stick, a coupling link by means of which the two parts of the stick can be fastened together whether the seat is attached or not, substantially as described and shown, and for the purpose Set forth.
