To all whom "it may concern:
Be it known that I, VViLLmM J. GinnoNs, a citizen ot the United States, residing in the city and county ot Philadelphia, ttate ot Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and usetul Improvements in Switch and Fuse Supports, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in switch and inse supports, and it has tor its object to provide. means whereby such supports may be readily connected to a conduit or tube, and a further object is to provide means whereby electric conducting wires which project from the. said conduit or tube may be readily connected to the binding posts and other circuit completing` devices upon the said support.

ln the drawings Figure l is a top plan view of a. switch and fuse support combined with the end or' a pipe or conduit embodying my invention; Fig. 2 is central longitudinal section of the same; Fig. 3 is a transverse section on the line 8*?) of Fig. l; Fig. 4; is a top plan view of the upper portion of a structure similar to that shown in Fig. l but showing a modified construction. Fig. 5 is a section on the line 5 5 of Fig. .4.; and Fig. 6 is a section on the line 6-6 oi Fig. 4t.
Referring to Figs. l, 2 and 3 oit the drawings 1 designates the insulating base or support for the switch 2, the fuses or cntouts 3 and the binding screws or posts 4;. The upper end of the base l is provided with a hollow boss-like portion 5 having an open top as indicated at 6 in the drawings. The open-topped boss portion 5 is adapted to be projected into an open-topped reducing socket 7 which is secured to the end of a pipe or conduit 8 through which the electrie conducting wires are adapted to be passed. The top of the reducing socket is cut awa-y as indicated in Fig. 2 and by the dotted lines 9 in Fig. l.
l0 designates a cover plate which is adapted to be secured to a lug or ear l1 projecting trom one wall olf the reducing socket by means of a screw 12, the said cover plate being also secured to the base or support l by means of a. screw 13.
Vln the use of a device embodying my invention, the cover plate l() is removed and the open-tomied boss 5 is inserted in the open-topped reducing socket T. The wires Yl'roni. the conduit or pipe S are carried through the narrow passage wavs i5 and are connected to the binding screws or posts l5 and the electric circuitthus completed passes through the cnt-outs or fuses B and the switch 2 in the usual well-known manner, er the wires are connected to the binding posts or screws 1l, the top or cover l() is secured in position by means of the screws 12 and By reason of the construction in which the cover l() is removable, I am enabled to most readily place the supporting base l in proper relation to the end olf the pipe S and also to connect the electric conducting wires and the binding posts In Figs. 1l and 5 l. have shown a modified construction in which the base l, fuses or cnt-outs 3 and the binding posts llare the same as the corresponding parts in Figs. l to 3. One end of the base l in Figs. d and 5 is provided with a projection or boss 2O having a semi-circular groove or depression 2l. In a device of the character described in combination, a conduit or tube having an open-topped reducing socket securml thereto, a base for supporting electric devices, the said base having a hollow open-topped boss or neck which is adapted to project into said socket and a cover adapted lo be secured over the said open-topped reducing socket and the said boss or neck.

the said base having a hollow open-topped boss or neck which is adapted to project into said socket, terminals secured on the said base and the said base having grooves or channelsI formed therein leading from the said hollow boss or neck to the said terminals. and a cover adapted to be secured over the said open-topped reducing socket and the said boss or neck.
3. In a device of the character described in combination. a conduit or tube having an open-topped reducing socket secured thereto. a base 'tor supporting electric devices, the said base having a boss or neck projecting therefrom, the said boss or neckl having a groove tormed therein` a cover adapted to extend over the said openaopjnad reducing socket and the said cover having a groove vvhich is complemental to the groove in the said boss or neck. and a portion ot :said over and said boss or neck beingl adapted to proj ject into said socket, means for .securing the said cover in position over the said openboss or neck, terminals secured upon the Said base and the said base having' grooves or channels communicating With the opening formed in the said boss or neck and the said cover.
4. In combination, a conduit or tube having an open-topped reducing socket secured thereto, a base provided with means Ytor the distribution of electric Wires projecting` from the said tube and through the said socket, the said base having a boss Which is adapted to extend into the Said socket, and means for closing the open top of the said reducing socket.
