To all whom it may concern:

.Be it known that T, JAKOB Snirnnr, a subject of the German Emperor, residing at Gochsheim, in the German Empire, have invented new and useful Improvements in Fasteners for Cravats and the Like, of which the following is aspecification.

It is well known that the fastening of cravats frequently is accompanied by disadvantages, the elastic ribbons not seldom tearing off, and the buckling at the back of the neck often being a troublesome and irksome work. Above all, it is extremely difficult, and with many cravats impossible, to fasten the latter in such a manner as to keep them in proper position during the whole day. Soon after the cravat is put on, as a rule, it gets an oblique position, and during the whole time of wear, innumerable times, it must be adjusted, only to soon again desert its proper position.

The present invention relates to a fastening arrangement for cravats which not only renders superfluous the elastic ribbonsand with stand-up-collar-cravats also the side ribbonsbut which, above all, insures a straight position of the cravat with absolute certainty.

In the accompanying drawings the invention is illustrated in one example of construction, Figure 1 representing a back view of the cravat having a fastener according to this invention to it, and Fig. 2 a side view of the same, partly in section. Fig. 3 (side view) shows another manner of construction in enlarged scale.

Said plate 5 is provided with two, preferably cylindrical, hollow bodies 0 in which pistons (Z (Fig. 2) are movably arranged. Each piston (Z is provided with a piston rod 6, over each of which is pushed a spiral spring f, which force the pistons (Z in an upward direction. The piston rods 6 pass through the bottoms of the hollow bodies 0 and are rigidly connected or made integral with each other by a curved piece of wire or metal. 9, which is bent to form two hooks 7t.

2' (Fig. 1) is the upper part of a press bu ton and 7c the collar stud (Fig. 2), the head or knob Z of which is shaped to fit the aperture of the press button 2'.

For the purpose of securely and i1nmov ably fastening the cravat to the collar, it suflices to insert the two hooks 7), between the lower front edge of the collar and the shirt, and then to raise the cravat until the press button part 2' reaches the stud 7t, whereupon, on exercising a slight pressure, the head Z of the stud will enter the aperture of the press button By the raising of the cravat the spiral springs j, of course, have been tensioned and accordingly force the curved piece 9 with hooks it firmly against the collar, thus making a lateral displacement of the cravat impossible.

Even if by an involuntary movement of the hands, or by other incidents the cravat has been shifted to the right or the left, the springs f will automatically return the same to its proper position.

The curved piece of metal or wire 9 may, of course, be shaped to conform to the roundness of the collar.

In the construction of Fig. the bottoms m of the hollow bodies a are movably arranged by screws or for the purpose of regulating the distance between the piece 9 and the part 2'.

The novel fastening arrangement may, needless to say, be made of any suitable material and in any desired size, and it can easily be attached to any shape of cravats, neckties, or the like. its construction is so simple that it can advantageously be manufactured en massc.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is A fastening arrangement for cravats, comprising a. plate fixed to the cravat, two tubular bodies fixed to said plate, pistons moving in said tubular bodies and forced in an upward direction by spiral springs pushed over piston rods which are connected with the pistons and with a curved. piece of metalv having hooks, substantially as set forth.
