To all whom "it may concern:

Be it known that I, EDWIN I-IoXwonr-n, a citizen of the United States, residing at Waco, in the county of McLennan and State of Texas, have invented a new and useful Combined Shade and Curtain Bracket Support and Shade-Guide, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to a combined shade and curtain bracket support and shade guide.

It is a well known fact that window shades generally tend to roll up in an uneven manner, the movement causing the edges of the shade to soon become damaged by the continual contact with the shade bracket, and making them unsightly in appearance.

One of the principal objects of the inven tion is to provide a device of the character described, in which a window-shade guide is provided, and is of such construction and arranged in such relation to the shade that the said shade will always roll straight, and thereby avoid any possible danger of becoming damaged as before stated.

Another object of the invention is to provide a device as above described which is more simple in construction than has heretofore been employed, is cheap to manufacture and is positive in operation.

With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the construction and novel combination of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing, and pointed out in the claims hereto appended; it being understood that various changes in the form, proportion, size and minor details of construction, within the scope of the claims, may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention.

In the drawing, Figure 1 is a front elevation of a portion of a window showing the invention applied thereon. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the left hand fixture. Fig. 3 is a plan view of the shade guide, showing the same before it is bent. Fig. 4 is a perspective view of one of the curtain brackets. Fig. 5 is a perspective view of one of the shade brackets, and Fig. 6 is a top plan View of the shade guide, showing the same arranged in position.

Like reference numerals designate corresponding parts in all the figures of the drawing.

Inasmuch as my invention is shown in duplicate, with the exception of the journals in shade bracket, a description of one of the fixtures only, will be suflicient.

Referring to the drawing, 7 designates a substantially rectangular support which is secured to the window frame by screws or any other suitable means 8. Detachably secured to the support, and near the top thereof, is a curtain bracket 9, having a threaded end 10, and an intermediate shoulder 11, said shoulder being provided with a plurality of bearing surfaces 12 in the form of a star. Also arranged 011 the support, and. below the curtain bracket, is a detachable shade bracket 13 having the usual journal 14: formed therein, and a threaded end 15. A shoulder 16 is arranged intermediate of the bracket and the threaded end, and is provided with a plurality of bearing surfaces 17 in the form of a star. The base is further provided with a recess 18-, which is preferably arranged below the bracket and on the inner side of said base, and is em ployed for a purpose hereinafter described.

The invention further comprises a shade guide 19, which is preferably stamped from a single piece of sheet metal. The guide comprises a pair of spaced wings or guiding surfaces 2020 which are connected at an intermediate point by a connecting portion 21. This connecting portion is bent at its center on a line parallel with the longi tudinal axis of the wings in order to cause the said wings to be arranged in the same plane, but spaced from each other as clearly shown in Fig. 6 of the drawing. The upper ends 22 of the wings are respectively curved outwardly for a purpose hereinafter de scribed. The guide is secured to the support 7 by the connecting portion 21 which is arranged within the recess 18 of the support, and, as will be evident, the expansive force of the said connecting portion 21 will hold the said guide in place. It will also be noted, that the guide also acts as a stop for the shade, when being rolled. The stick will come in contact with the guide and cause the shade to stop, thereby preventing the usual annovance occasioned by the complete wrapping of the said shade around the roller.

From the foregoing it will be evident that because the shade bracket is arranged above the said guide, the shade will pass between the two wings or guiding surfaces'QO, and

danger of the shade coming in contact with the edges thereof, and thereby injuring the same.

What I claim is 1. In a device of the class described, the Combination with a support, of a curtain pole bracket detachably secured near theupper end thereof, a shade bracket detachably secured to the support below the curtain pole bracket, a recess formed in one side of the support below the shade bracket, and a guide for the shade detachably secured in the said recess, and retained therein against movement by the expansive force thereof.
