ANDRES F. IVAHLBERG, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
SUPPORT FOR SHADE-ROLLERS.
' SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 588,710, dated August 24, 1897.
Application filed Mal-011 2 2, 1897- To aZZ whom it may concern: V
Be it known that I, ANDRES F. WAHLBERG, a citizen of the United States, residing at Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Supports for Shade- Rollers, of which the following is a full and complete specification, such as will enable to make and use the same.
This invention relates to supports for window-shade rollers; and the object thereof is to provide devices of this class which are simple in construction and operation and which are adapted to be connected with the opposite sides of a window-frame, at the top thereof, in such manner that a shade-roller may be suspended therefrom, said devices being longitudinally adjustable, so as to accommodate shade-rollers of different lengths. The invention is fully disclosed in the following specification, of which the accompany- Figure 1 isa front View of one corner of a window, showing my improvement; Fig. 2, a viewof one of the shade-holders detached; Fig. 3, a section on the line 3 3 of Fig. 2; Fig. 4, an end view of the holder, and Fig. 5 a similar view showing a modification.
In the drawings forming part of this specification, the separate parts of my improvement are designated by the same numerals of reference in each of the views, and in said drawings I have shown at 7 the corner of a window-frame provided with one of my improved supports for a shade-roller, and at8 one end of a shade-roller which is provided with a shade 9.
In practice I provide two similar devices, one of which is connected with each side of the window-frame at the top thereof, and one of these devices is shown in Fig. 1 as connected with the frame of the window, and in Fig. 2 said device is shown detached from said frame. This device consists of a rec-' tangular frame 10, which is composed of wire, and at each cornerof which is an eye or ring 11., through which screws, bolts, or nails may be passed, and mounted on the longitudinal sides of the frame 10 is a sliding holder proper, 12. This holder consists of a wire, the central portion of which isformedinto an eye or ring 13, which projects outwardly from the frame 10, and the. separate ends of the wire are coiled around the sides of'said frame,
Serial No- 628,686. (No model.)
desired manner on said frame by the arm 16 when the latter is in the position shown in Figs. 1 and 2.
The shade-roller 8 is provided centrally at each end thereof with the usual shaft 17, and this shaft at one end of said roller is round and at. the other end angular in form, and in Fig. 5 I have shown one of the holders 12, in which the eye or ring 13 is also angular in form, it being understood that this form of construction is necessaryat one end of the roller 8, so as to prevent the same from turning in the operation of raising and lowering the shade.
My improved shade-holders are simplein construction and operation and are perfectly adapted to accomplish the result for which they are intended, and it will be apparent that changes in and modifications ofthe con struction herein described may be made without departing from the spirit of my invention or sacrificing its advantages.
Having fully described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent In a shade-roller support, a rectangular frame formed out of wire-and provided with an eye at each cornerthereof, an adjustable holder mounted thereon, said holder being triangular in form and consisting of an eye adapted to engage the roller-shaft, two coils adapted to engage respectively the sides of the frame, a pivoted arm and a hook, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention I have signed my name, in presence of the subscribing witnesses, this 20th day of March, 1897.
W'itnesses:
O. GERsT, T. M. CARR.
