@Ml M W@ WILLIAM ROBERT SANDIFUR, OF LOCUST GROVE, GEORGIA.
DISPLAY-RACK FOR HOLDING HATS.
To all whom it 'may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM R. SANDI- .ruiu a citizen of the United States, residing at Locust Grove, in the county of ,Henry and State of Georgia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Display- Racks for Holding I-Iats; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the inv-ention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in display racks for holding boxes, hats, etc., and comprises various de-` tails of construction and combinations and arrangements of parts which will be hereinafter fully described and then specifically defined in the appended claim.
I illustrate my invention in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure l is a perspective view showing my device as suspended from the ceiling of a room and illustrating boxes held upon frames upon the rotary reel, and Fig. 2 is an enlarged detail view of one of the frames for supporting the boxes.
Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A designates a rack having depending arms A', said rack having a shank portion C attached to a rope E passing over pulley F secured to the ceiling of a room. Said depending arms have apertures H therein `in which the spindle ends of the reel K are ljournaled, and series of parallel wires N are fastened between said wheels and spaced apart. Detachably held upon each of said parallel wires is a boxholding frame, designated by letter 0, said frame having two arms 0 bent to form hooks to engage over the rod and depending therefrom and so 'arranged that the tran'ie may be easily taken otii' the rod when it is desired to have, access to the box carried by the frame. Each frame also has two upwardly extending arms Q, designed to cooperate with the other arms to hold the box in place. As each frame swings upon the Specification of Letters Patent.

rod upon which it is held, it will be noted that the boxes will be kept right side up as the reel rotates. Any number of frames may be suspended from each rod.
Fixed to the spindle shaft of the reel is a pulley R which is grooved. S is a countershaft journaled in depending arms a2 and has a grooved pulley S fixed thereto. A belt J passes about said pulleys and affords means for rotating the countershaft as the reel is rotated. A fan T is fixed to the countershaft and the wings of said fan are fixed adjacent to the circumference of the reel and are adapted, as the reels are rotated, to create a current and blow oit any dust which may accumulate on the boxes. As the pulley wheel upon the countershaft is much smaller than the grooved pulley upon the main shaft, obviously an accelerated movement will be imparted to the countershaft by a slight rotary movement being imparted to the reel, thus causing a current of air to blow 'the dust from the boxes.
By the provision of the rope attached to the device and passing over the pulleys, the display rack which may be of any size may be lowered for convenience in having access to the boxes and when not in use, may be -aised above the heads of persons in the room in which it may be used.
What I claim to be new, is
A display rack comprising a frame having depending arms, a rotatable reel journaled in said arms, said reel being provided with a series of parallel rods spaced apart, article supporting wires having hook supporting arms engaging said rods, said wires having bent portions extending toward eachY other and twisted together, thence bent at right angles to the twisted portion and having upwardly extending arms which are parallel to each other and cooperating with said supporting arms to hold an article, as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
WILLIAM ROBERT SANDIFUR,
litnesses R. J. SIMPSON, E. T. Urol-runen.
