DEVICE FOR DRYING HAIR.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ROBERT PARKER, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Long Branch, in the county of Monmouth and State of New Jersey, have invented new and useful Improvements in Devices for Drying Hair, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to devices for drying ladies hair after it has been washed or after bathing, and one of the principal objects of the same is to provide a device of simple construction which can be quickly applied for separating the hair and supporting it away from the back of the person in order that it may quickly dry.

Another object of the invention is to provide a device for drying the hair which can be made entirely of wire and which can be folded to occupy but little space when not in use.

These and other objects may be attained by means of the construction illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which,

Figure 1 is a perspective view showing the hair drying device in use. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the hair drier. Fig. 3 is a side elevation of the same.

Referring to the drawing, the numeral 1 designates the curved supporting member preferably made from a single piece of wire of the required gage and provided with a series of upwardly projecting spacing members 2 for holding the hair separated so that it will readily dry. The supporting member 1 is provided with loops or bends 3 by means of which the same is pivoted upon a cross bar 4 also made of wire and provided with upwardly extending spacing members 5. From the cross bar at side bars 6 extend, said side bars being formed integral with the cross bar 4, and said side bars are pivotally mounted at 7 upon the sustaining bar or member 8 having a broad central loop 9 Specification of Letters Patent.

back of the person using the drier to hold the parts extended. Formed integral with the member 8 are the shoulder hooks 10 adapted to be placed over the shoulders for supporting the entire device, as shown in Fig. 1.

In use, the shoulder members 10 are placed over the shoulders, as shown in Fig. 1, and the members 6 and 1 are thrown outward until the loop 9 bears against the back of the user to hold the members 1 and 6 in horizontal position to support the hair. The hair is then separated and placed in thin strands between the separating piece 2 so that it will dry in a short time.

From the foregoing it will be obvious that a device made in accordance with my invention can be manufactured at low cost, can be readily folded up when not in use to occupy but little space, can be manufactured of nickel-plated wire or similar material and provides a very efficient and convenient appliance for its purpose.

I claim 1. A device for drying hair comprising a curved supporting member having upwardly projecting teeth, a cross bar to which said supporting member is hinged, side bars connected to the cross bar, a sustaining bar provided with a loop, and means for supporting the device over the shoulders.

2. A device for drying hair comprising a. supporting member having upwardly projecting spaced teeth, means for holding the supporting member in a horizontal position at the back of the person using the device, the parts being formed of wire and connect- .ed together by hinges so that it -may be folded to occupy but little space.
