and useful Improvements in Combined Scrubbers, Mops, and ringers; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

a simple, durable and efficient scrubbing de- 1 drain away the water expressed from the mop-cloth by the rolls, and to detach from the face of the mop-cloth any solid matter adhering thereto before the cloth passes through the rolls.

In the accompanying drawings Figure 1 is a side elevation of my improved device; and Fig. 2 is a plan View thereof.

Referring to the drawings, 1 indicates a yoke, to which is secured a handle, 2, by any suitable means. Rigidly attached to the forward end of said yoke, 1, is a scrubbing brush, 19, which may be of the usual and well known type.

Journaled in longitudinal slots, 7, in the side of the yoke, 1, is a roller, 3, having its surface roughened as by means of longitudinal flutes or grooves, said roller being provided with a crank, 4, by which means the roller may be rotated. Said crank, 4: is conveniently jointed as at 4: as to be permitted to be swung backward and downward over the yoke so as to be out of the way when the device is in use. A second roller, 5, is journaled in yoke, 1, in generally parallel relation with roller 3, the ends of the pins or shafts on which said rollers, 8, and 5, are mounted being connected with springs, 6, which tend to move the roller, 3, toward roller 5, and exert considerable pressure upon a looped or continuous mop-cloth, 8, which passes over the brush, 19, and roller toward and from board 9.

5, and between said rollers 3 and 5. As will be apparent from an inspection of the drawings, the slots 7 which form the bearings for and from the roller 5, thereby exerting a also allowing the roller, 3, to yield to accommodate any variation in the thickness of the mopcloth.

To the sides of the yoke, 1, are secured two pendent brackets, 10, to which are attached two spaced drainer boards, 5) and 11, lying below the rollers 5 and 3 respectively. Board 9 is preferably rigidly attached to brackets 10, and also to the brush 19 so that said board 9 is relatively fixed, while board 11 is connected to brackets 10 by means of screws, 12, which engage elongated inclined slots, 13, in the lower edges of the brackets 10, to permit a movement of said board 11 the board 11 is supported by a flat spring 14, which is attached to yoke 1, and which spring normally tends to force the board 11 toward the board 9, so that the rounded or tapered rear edge of board 9 and forward edge of board 11 contact with the surfaces of the mop-cloth 8.

From the foregoing description it will be apparent that when it is desired to use brush 19 for scrubbing, it is only necessary to turn the looped mop-cloth, 8, sidewise and backward over the yoke, to free the brush, which may then be employed in the usual manner, the mop-cloth being retained in the position mentioned by turning back upon it the jointed crank t. When it is desired to use the mop, the mop cloth 8 is thrown over the brush as illustrated in the drawings, when the face of the brush, 19, serves as a backing or abutment against which the mop-cloth lies when the same is drawn backward and forward over the surface to be mopped or dried. The mopcloth being supported against the ends of the bristles or fibers of the brush receives therefrom a resilient support, which I find preferable to a rigid support which would be furnished by a hard wood or metal backing. l/Vhen it is desired to expel the water absorbed by the mop, handle 4: is moved into vertical position, as indicated in the drawings, and rotated, thereby drawing the loop of the mop-cloth between boards 9 and 11, which serve the double function of scraping off of the mop any solid matter adhering to The rear end of I either face of the cloth, and also to drain away from the mop-cloth the water expressed from the same by the action of the rollers. After the mop-cloth has been sufficiently freed of water, rotation of roller 3 is suspended and handle 4 turned backward on its hinge 4 to a position above the yoke 1, and roller, 3, and the scrubbing and mopping operations may be repeated.

I have illustrated the drainer boards, 9 and 11, so inclined as to catch and deflect from their outer sides the water expressed from the mop-cloth by the rollers 3 and 5, but it is obvious that a somewhat difierent arrangement of these drainer boards will come within the scope of the invention.

Having thus described my invention I claim,

1. In a scrubbing device, the combination of a handle, a brush carried thereby, and an endless mop cloth looped about the brush.

2. In a scrubbing device, the combination of a handle, a brush carried thereby, and an endless mop cloth looped about the brush but movable to one side of the brush so that the latter may be used for scrubbing.

3. In a scrubbing device, the combination with a mop-cloth, and Wringer mechanism, of drainer boards which abut against the mop cloth at opposite surfaces.

4. In a scrubbing device the combination of a mop cloth, wringer mechanism, a fixed drainer board at one side of the mop cloth, and a movable spring-pressed drainer board at the other side of the mop cloth and pressing the same against the fixed drainer board.

5. In a scrubbing device, the combination of a yoke, wringer rollers journaled in said yoke, a mop cloth passing between said rollers, and drainer boards carried by the yoke beneath the wringer rollers and co-acting with the mop cloth at opposite surfaces.

6. In a scrubbing device, the combination of a yoke, fiat inclined drainer boards carried by the yoke, wringer mechanism, and a mop cloth acted on by the wringer mechan- I ism and passing between the drainer boards. In testimony whereof I affix my signature, in presence of two witnesses.
