To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ALEXANDRA RICHTER, a subject of the German Emperor, and resident of Leipzig, Germany, have invented an Improved Sterilizing Apparatus, of which the following is a specification.

The object of the present invention is a sterilizing apparatus in which the whole interior space can be utilized and in addition to this, receptacles of different sizes may be put in said apparatus. This is attained by arranging the intermediate bottoms adjustably in their vertical direction.

In order that the invention may be more clearly understood, reference is made to the annexed drawing, in which Figure 1 shows a vertical section of the apparatus. Fig. 2 shows a plan, and Fig. 3 shows details.

In a kettle or pot a provided with a lid b, for the purpose of setting up the glasses, cans or the like, abody is inserted which corresponds to the size of the pot and whose three supporting pillars 0 are rigidly connected with the lower plate (Z. In accordance with the height of the cans which are to be put inside, the intermediate plates 6 are inserted and adjustably fastened by means of the bolts on to the pillars 0 which have holes therein adapted to receive the said bolts. The intermediate plates 6 are formed with central openings (F; the edges around said openings are bent to form seats for the plates al By removing said plates (Z a taller glass may be placed in the center of the device. By means of the handle 0, which is removably secured to the ends of pillars c, the inserted body may be removed. The plates (Z, c and the plates (Z are provided with a number of apertures Z for the better circulation of the water or steam. Said plates also have a number of small apertures into which lock the pins 9 of the saucers which are adapted to receive the cans so as to prevent the cans from being displaced or from sliding off. The bow h for closing the cans or glasses a; is similar to those which are in use, only rounded in a considerably flatter fashion. Said bow is provided at the top with a small socketpiece 1" into which the pin 9 of the saucer enters, and prevents tipping of the glasses.

The bottom it of the saucer f has a rectangular depression on its upper surface and a slot h" is formed in said bottom into which is guided the pin 9 which is provided with a rectangular plate g which slides in said depression. Thus the parts may be adjusted to overcome small differences in the arrangement of the holes. Plate 9 and pin 9 are held in position by the inserted loose plate 2' and by the pressure of the glass set upon it.

I claim 1. A sterilizing apparatus comprising a kettle, a cover therefor, and a supporting body adapted to be placed in said vessel, said body comprising a lower perforated plate, upright pillars supported by said plate, perforated plates removably carried by said pillars above the bottom plate, and a removable handle on the upper end of the pillars.

2. A sterilizing apparatus comprising a vessel, perforated plates removably and adjustably supported therein, and saucers removably carried by said plates.

3. A sterilizing apparatus comprising a kettle, plates removably and adjustably supported therein, said plates having a central opening with a supporting flange around the opening, and central removable plates covering said opening.

4. i. sterilizing apparatus comprising a kettle, a frame therein, plates adjustably carried by said frame one above the other, and adapted to receive the articles to be sterilized, saucers, a pin secured to the bottom of the saucer, each of said plates having perforations therein through which the pins are adapted to pass, a cover for the article to be sterilized having a central depression into which the pin of the saucer immediately above the article to be sterilized extends.

5. A sterilizing apparatus comprising a kettle, perforated plates supported therein, and saucers supported by said plates, each of said saucers having a depending pin slidably arranged on the bottom of the saucer and adapted to engage with one of the perforations in the plate.
