Description

M. J. ROGERS.
MEDICAL IMPLEMENT.
APPLIOATION FILED 0OT.13, 1909.
949,382, Patented Feb. 15, 1910.
MARY J. ROGERS, OF
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
MEDICAL IMPLEMENT.
Application filed October 13,
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Feb. 15. 1910.
1909. Serial No. 522,396.
I 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MARY J. Iloonns, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, county of Cook, and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful linprovements in Medical Implements, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to medical implements or accessories and the object of my invention is to provide an improved reservoir or tank such as is used by women in their employment of a douche; the reservoir under consideration being used to hold the cleansing liquid, the latter passing therefrom to the douche employed. A further object is the provision of a reservoir of the character mentioned in which will be embodied means for conveniently supporting the same in an elevated position such as is necessary in order to obtain the requisite pressure upon the liquid issuing from the douche.
Other objects will appear hereinafter.
\Vith these objects in view my invention consists in a reservoir characterized as above mentioned and in certain details of construction and arrangement of parts all as will be hereinafter fully described and particularly pointed out in the appended claims.
My invention will be more readily understood by reference to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, and in which,
Figure 1 is a perspective view of my device in its preferred form, Fig. 2 is a partial side elevatlon and vertical section thereof, and Fig. 8 is a top plan view.
Referring now to the d'awings 1 indicates the body of the reservoir which, as shown, is preferably rectangular in form, the same being constructed preferably of a suitable sheet metal. The top of the body is open and is provided with a removable cover 2, the latter being formed with a depending flange 3 which fits snugly in said end of the former to form an effective connection therewith. A handle 4 provided upon the upper side of the cover serves an obvious purpose. The upper edge of the body is outwardly curled to form a bead 5. Encircling said body, the same engaging the head 5 whereby the body is held supported therein, is a supporting loop or band 6. Said loop is of such dimensions as to snugly encircle the body 1 loosely enough to permit of the removal of the latter therefrom if clesired. Formed in the rearward portion of the loop 6 is an enlargement 7 whereby the device may evidently be supported upon a vertically extending projection as a bed post or the like. Centrally secured to the rearward side of the body 1 at the upper edge thereof is an upwardly projecting perforated ear 8 by means of which the device may be suspended from a horizontally extending nail, hook, pin, or the like.
Centrally positioned in the bottom of the body 1 is a depending drain nipple t). Ilaving its upper end secured to said nipple is a depending flexible tube 10 the lower end of which, when the device is in use, being connected to the inlet pipe of the douche employed. Interposcd in said tube 10 is a suitable sto cock 11 by means of which the flow of liquid through the former may evidently be readily -overned.
lVhile I have siown what I deem to be the preferable form of my device I do not wish to be limited thereto as there might be numerous changes made in the details of construction and the arrangement of parts without departing from the spirit of the in vention as brought out in the appended claims. And although I have designed my device with special reference to its emplo ment in conjunction with a douche I may use the same in any other connection to which it is applicable.
Having described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. A reservoir of the class described comprising a metallic body open at its upper end, a removable cover snugly fitting the top of said body, a bead formed at the upper edge of said body, a detachable loop loosely encircling said body adapted to engage said bead, an enlargen'icnt formed in said loop, a perforated ear upwardly projecting from the rearward side of said body, a drain nipple depending from the bottom of said body, a flexible tube connected to said nipple, and a stop cock interposed in said tube, substantially as described.
2. A device of the class described comprising a rectangular metallic body open at its upper end, a removable cover snugly fitting the top of said body, a handle provided upon said cover, a projecting bead formed at the upper edge of said body, a metallic supporting band encircling said body, said band engaging said head, a loop formed in the rearward side of said band, a perforated ear In testimony whereof I have signed my upwardly projecting from said body at the name to this specification in the presence of rearward side thereof, a drain nipple detWo subscribing Witnesses.
pending from the bottom of said body, a MARY J. ROGERS. flexible pipe connected to said nipple, and a Witnesses:
stop cock interposed in said pipe, substan- HELEN F. LILLIs,
tially as described. JosHUA R. H. Po'r'rs.
