v The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of-the saunec Be it known that I, JOHN ROBB1Ns,of Oentralia, in the `county of Marion, and `State of Illinois, have invented 1a new andvaluable Improvement iu Clothes- Line Holders; -and I do herebydeclare that the following is a full,clear, and exactdescription' 'of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making `a part of this specification, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.l
Figure 1., of the i drawings, is .a vertical section of my inventionyshowing its action in securing a line.
Figure 2 is a side view of same, showing method of tightening the line.
Figure 3 is a rear View, showing jaw B and loop.
My invention rel'atesto a means for securing and tightening clothes-lines, and consists, mainly, in the construction and novel arrangement of' apair of metal jaws, so hinged `togetl1er that when the line is pulled in one direction it slides easily, and when pulled atV the I other end it is lirmly held.
The letter A, of the drawings, designates one of the jaws, having Wingate keep the line in place, 4and a IIl (iS-SGS.
loop, I, at its upper end, through which the line passes for use, as at E'.
The letter B designates the other jaw, having smaller Wings, b, which are pivoted to the wings or cheeks A by the. rivets or pins c.
The'jaw B has also,at its upper end,a loop, H,
similar to that of the jaw'A, but used for fastening the deviceA to the wall or post, by means of a supplementary rope, I).
This device will also prove useful vin securing and tightening the, cordage of vessels.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The device herein described, having jaws A and B,
loops H and I, and rivets or pins c c, constructed, ar-
ranged, and operated substantially as specified.
