My invention relates to improvements in wire garment stays, formed of a single wire,

bent laterally in approximately parallel lines, but extended longitudinally in one dircctiou in a pointed or curved manner to form a bluntly barbed arrangement of each complete 100' 'f; and the objects of my iinproveu euts are, first, to provide a. wire stay flexible in all directions, second, to afford easy facilit vfor insertion into the rcceptaclcsthercfor'in the garment, third, to pro ride a light thin stay in which the bends thereof all lie normally in the same plane; fourth, to'add stitlncss to the stay, by reason of the fabric of the garment forming a support for the longitudinally elongated bends of the wire, fifth, to overcome the tendency of the stay to work downward and force itself through the fabric of the ga nieut' 'at the bottom of the containing pocket. I attain these objects by the wire stays illustrated in i the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1, is a. plan of my invention, show ing the pointed elongation of bends. F 2, is a side View of same, showing all bends to lie normally in the same plane. Fig. 3, is a plan of curved elongation of-bends. t, is a side view .of same, showing all bends to lie normally in the same plane.

What. f claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. A wire garment stay, formed of a single wire, bent 'in' alternately progressive loops, each extending laterally entirely across the width. of the stay, and disposed at an acute or oblique angle to the longitudinal axis of the stay, substantially as shown aud'set forth.

2. A Wire garment stay, formed of a sinwire, bent laterally across the entire width of the stay, in alternately 'n'ogressivc loops, open at the side, and extended at an acute or oblique angle to the longitudinal. axis of the stay, to produce a pointed or curved formation to each. loop, all in the same plane; substantially as shown and described.
