are very soon destroyed by washing, since the rubber film or perspiration-proof fabric of which these shields` are composed is quickly disintegrated and rendered nonperspiration-proof by washing the same.

My invention seeks to overcome the disadvantages referred to and to provide a dress shield in which there is a pocket in each flap of the same for containing a perspiration-proof layer and in which the layer referred to may be readily removed when it is desired to wash the shield.

These and other objects may be attained by means of the construction illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which,--

Re erring to therdrawing, the numeral l designates the inner layer of a pocket, and 2 is the outer layer thereof. These layers are `secured together by a binding 3 at the outer edges of said layen The inner pocket of the shield consists ofthe layers 4 and 5 connected together by a binding strip 6 eX- tending around the edges thereof. The pocket opening 7 is provided with bindhe perspirationroof layer shown in Fig. 2 consists of a ap 9'and a smaller ap 10 preferably formed of two pieces and secured'together along the upper edge, as at 11a, to practically conform to the shape of the dress shield pocket. This perspiratlonproof layer can be readily inserted in the pocket and removed therefrom whenever it is desired to wash the shield. It will be understood that the pocketed member of the shield is made of suitable washable fabric.

For the purpose of securing the perspiration-proof layer in the pocket and for holding the shield in position in the arm scye of the garment the fastener shown 1n Fig. 4 may be employed, or any suitable fastening device. As shown. in Fig. 4, the socket mein'- ber 11 is preferably of the resilient type, and

ythe stud 12 is adapted to pass into the socket member after passing through the perspiration-proof layer and the members of the pocket. The shank 13 of the stud member may engage the material of the garment to yhold the shield in place. rlhe ball and socket members may be secured to the shield, as shown in Fig. 3, by means of stitches or other fastening means.

From the foregoing it will be obvious that a dress shield made in accordance with my invention can be quickly cleaned without 1njuring the perspiration-proof layer7` the latterbeing removed from the pocket lnthe shield before the washing operation.` The cost of production of my shield is no greater than that ofthe ordinary dress shield, and` the advantage referred to is very great.

A dress, shield comprising a washable fabric having a plurality of pockets, a removable moisture-proof layer of materlal having portions dis osed in said pockets and confined between t eir walls, socket members carriedby one of the walls o f one of the said pockets and disposed inline with the openings of the said pockets, and stud members carried by the moisture-proof material and adapted to be removably inserted in the socket members to hold themoistureproof material in its operatlve position.
