To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, DAVID BYARD, of Sharon, in
the county of Mercer, and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Grate-Bars; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof', reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view, with suitable frame, for holding grate-bars in the desired manner, having the boiler and part of the brick-work removed.
Figure 2' is a perspective view of circle or section of grate-bar.
Figure 3 is a bar is operated.
Figure 4 is a side view of bearing-bar.
Figure 5 is a top view of centre for supporting bearing-bars.
Figure 6 isa side'view of shaft or centre onv which the grate revolves.
To enable others skilled in the art to understand my invention, I 'will describe its construction and operation.
Twoor more of the centres, fig. 5, are placed on the shaft a', iig. 6, placing one on each end, at cfand c'. One of the bearing-bars x, iig. 4, with its correspond-` perspectve view of' wrench by which ing lugs s s, is placed in each of the openings in the centres lc It k, fig. 5. Upon this, then, place the rings or segments, fig. 2, with the notches gg g resting upon the bearing-bars, iilling the bar to any desired length,l
fastening the last ring or section in its place with a key-bolt or its equivalent.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
l. The construction and arrangement of the grate as herein set forth, whereby motion may be given thereto, for the purpose of cleaning and allowing the heated parts of the grate to cool at intervals.
2. Theconstruetion and arrangement of the ring or section, fig. 2, with its lugs d :l d, opening n, and not-ches g g g, substantially as represented.
3. The construction and arrangement of the centre pieces, fig. 5, with their bearings lc lc It, with reference to the bearing-bars, fig. 4, and shaft, iig. 6, and its depressions at c', whereby to be able to remove the sec-` tions when broken, substantially as herein set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoingas my own invention, I aix my signature in presence of two` witlleSSeS.
