FENCE-POST.
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, FRED Soi-ILEGEL, a citizen of the United States, residing at l-Iersey, in the county of Osceola, State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful 1mprovements in Fence-Posts; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description 0I the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to malte and use the saine.
rlhe invention relates to fence posts and more particularly to the class of metallic fence posts. y
The primary object of the invention is the provision of a fence post in which the runner wires of a fence may be conveniently and readily supported in proper relation to each other upon the post and that will enable the said wires to be adjusted at will.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a fence post in which the fence wires are mounted thereon so that the same will be prevented from displacement longitudinally of the post and that will permit the adjustment of said wires either in approximate or distant relation to each other in av ready and easy manner.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a fence post of this character which is simple in construction, strong, durable, thoroughly efficient and reliable in operation and inexpensive in the manufacture.
lith these and other objects in view the invention consists in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts, as will be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, which disclose the preferred form of embodiment of the invention and as pointed out in the claim hereunto appended.
In the drawings the ligure is a perspective view of a fence with the post constructed in accordance with the invention.
Similar reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views in the drawings.
In the drawings, the numeral 5 designates generally a fence post which is constructed of sheet metal, one edge being bent at right angles to the body portion to form a flange Specification of Letters Patent.

The flange 7, serves to strengthen or reinforce the sheet metal to prevent buckling or bending of the post and to permit the same to withstand all customary strains pertinent thereto. The opposite edge 6, has cut therein throughout a greater portion of the extent of the same spaced alining teeth 8, between which are adapted to be received fence runner wires 9, which may be of any well linown form. The post 5 has its lower end embedded in a plastic anchoring block 10, and the said lower end of the post contains suitable openings 11, for the proper bonding of the post within the cement or plastic block.
Contained near opposite extremities of the post between the edge 6 and flange 7 thereof are squared apertures 12, the saine adapted to register with correspondingly shaped apertures 13, formed in a. securing strip la, and through these apertures are passed bolt members 15, which latter serve to lock the securing strip across the rtuiner wires 9, and securely to the post.
Intermediate the apertures 12, and contained within the body portion of the post 5, are elongated openings 16, the latter adapted to register in correspondingly shaped openings 17, in the securing strip let, and within these apertures are adjustably mounted bolt members 18, which latter can be longitudinally shifted on the post 5, should the ruimer wires 9, extend into the path of the said registering openings 16 and 17, and thereby not interfere with the stringing of the fence wires upon the post.
From the foregoing, it is thought that the construction, operation and many advantages of the herein described invention will be apparent to those skilled in the art without further description and it will be understood that'various changes in the size, shape and proportion and minor details of construction may be made without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention.
