Be it known that l, Josmn ll. Cnmvsnaw, a citizen of the United States. residing at Starrsville. in the county of Yew'ton and State of (-lreorgia. have invented a new and useful Plow-Foot. o'l which the following is a specification.

This invention has relation to a plow foot and it consists in the novel. construction and arrangement of parts as hereinafter shown and described.

The object of the present invention is to provide a foot of the character indicated which is adapted to carry a shovel or plow plate and a sweep. The parts of the foot being so formed and arranged that the said plate and sweep are positively. held in ad-' justed position when located upon the foot.

In the accompanying drawings: Figure 1 is a perspective view of the plow foot. Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view of the lower portion of the same. Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional view of the plow foot cut on the line 33 of Fig. 2. Fig. 4 is a bottom plan view of a portion of the plow foot.

The plow foot consists of a sole block 1 which is provided in its sides with recesses 2. The lower ends of the side pieces 3 of the plow standard are secured in the recesses 2 by means of a pin a which passes transversely through the said pieces 3 and the intermediate portion of the sole 1. The sole 1 is provided at its rear end with a series of curved serrations 5. The side pieces are provided at their forward edges with serrations 6. an elongated slot 8 and the upper end of the said plate is adapted to engage the serrations 6 provided at the forward edges of the side pieces 3. A. block 9 is located between the lower portions of the side pieces 3 and is provided with an elongated opening 10 through which a bolt 11 passes. The said bolt is secured. at each end portion to the side pieces 3 of the plow standards. The said block 9 is provided at its lower end with a projection 12 which lies behind the rear edges of the side pieces 3 and which is provided upon its forward side with a series of serrations 13. The said projection is also provided at each side with shoulders 14- which are adapted to have Contact with the rear edges of the side pieces 3 or approximately so.

The opening 10 in the block 9 is provided with a series of serrations 15, between which A plow plate 7 is provided with p the bolt 11 may be seated, and which forms a means for adj ustably securing the block 9 to the standard 3.

From the above description it is obvious that by loosening the bolt 11 the block 9 may be shifted into position between the sides 3 so that the projection 12 thereof may be brought toward or moved away from the sole block 1, thus the space between the said projection 12 and the sole may be increased or diminished to receive a sweep as indicated at 17 of any breadth. hen the sweep 17 is positioned between the block 9 and the sole block 1 a heel bolt 18 is passed through the slot 8 and through the space between the lower portions of the side pieces 3 and through the said plate and a beveled washer is placed on the lower end of the said heel bolt and secured thereon by means of a nut- 20 screwed upon the lower end of the said heel bolt. It will also be seen that prior to securing the heel bolt 18 as above indicated the shovel 7 may be shifted longitudinally along the lower portions of the side pieces 3 of the plow standards so that the forward edge of the said shovel may project to a greater or less degree in front of the forward end of the sole block 1. Also it will be seen that by seating the bolt 11 in any space between adjacent serrations 15 at the upper end of the opening 10 in the block 9, the said block may be adjusted and secured with relation to the side pieces of the standard. By reason of the fact that the serrations 5 provided in the sole of the block are curved the said serrations are adapted to receive a sweep the intermediate portion of which is straight or curved. Thus it will be seen by such an arrangement that when the plow plate and the sweep are adjusted in their relative positions means is provided for positively holding the said sweep and plate in such adjusted position irrespective of the strain or rough use to which such parts'are usually subjected during the operation of plowing. It will also be seen that a detachable sole block is provided and when one sole becomes worn to such an extent as to be valueless it may be readily removed from the lower portions of the side pieces 3 and a new one put in in its stead.

Having described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. In combination with a plow standard, a sole block attached thereto and having a se ries of serrations, a block adjustably attached to the standard and having a projection lying behind the standard, said projection being provided with a series of serrations.

2. In combination with a standard, a sole block attached thereto and having a series of serrations, a block adjustablyattached to the standard and having tongues adapted to enter serrations provided in the standards, the last said block having a projecting portion lying behind the rear edge of the standard and provided with a series of serrations.
