'lhc invention consists of a post `for link buttons which is bent up from a longitndiw nal blank of sI1cetj.-nictal provided with inclincd arnis which forni the braces between 'the legs ot' the Vsshaped post, and which arc integral with one leg of the post and attached to the other leg, the legs and braces being bent up troni the blank, as will be fully described hereinafter and finally pointed out in the claims.

The post o has the general shape and appearance of the well-known solid posts heretofore in use, but dit'ers from them by being hollow that is to say by being bentup from ablank a?, which is made of a flat longitudinal Strip of sheet-metal and provided about midway with short recesses a2 at opposite sides and near one end with inclined arms a, which form the brace for the legs of the post when the blank is bent up into proper shape.
The blank (il is cut from sheet-metal of suitable thickness by suitable punching dies and then bent up by shaping dies into U- shaped cross-section, as shown in Figs. 5, 6 and 'i'. The lll-shaped or channeled blank is nextbentup into 'tf-shape, as shown in Fig. 8, so as to form a, extending upwardly from the recessed portionf, after which the arms a3 are soldered onto. the inner edges of the longer leguit. The nal curved shape is then given to the legs c* by suitable dies, shown in Fig. The U-shaped cross section `of the convcrginglegs of the post imparts considerable strength to the post which is equal if not stronger than a solid post. Having thus described my invention, l claini as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
l. `A post for link-buttons, made of V- shape of two bent-up legs of U-shaped crosssection. `united at the apex, and by braces` approximately at the middle-portion of the legs, said braces heilig bent up from one leg` and attached to the inner edges of the other leg.
2. A blank for the posts of link-buttons consisting of a. longitudinal strip of sheetmetal, recesses approximately at the middleportion of the. saine, and inclined arms at opposite sides near one end of the saine.
8. A l-shaped post for link-buttons made of' a single piece of sheet-metal of suitable thickness comprising two longitudinally curved bent 'up legs of U-shaped cross-section, a narrow connecting' strip holding the inner ends of said legs together and formed by recesses cutI in said pieces of sheetnietal, and laterally extending arms formed integral with one of said legs and rigidly se cured to the other leg.
