Be it known that. I, Mansion. F. Girrix, a citizen of the United States, residing at i (love. county of Union, and State of Oregon. have invented certain new and useful linprovements in Non-Refillable Bottles and Bottle-Valves, of which the following is a speciti -ation.

My invention relates to non-refillable bottles and bottle valves.

The object of the present invention is the provision of a non-refillable bottle of novel construction having a valve of novel form which is sealed within the bottle neck in a new manner, capable of being turned, after the sealing material has been removed, so that. the contents of the bottle may be removed, but which may be rc-scaled after use, thus preventing refilling by unauthorized parties.

The invention contemplates the provision of a bottle neck having dispensing and air inlet openings, con'ibined with a rotatable valve of novel construction which is retained in the bottle neck in a novel manner and is sealed up initially but may' he unsealed and the valve rotated to obtain the contents of the bottle at any time and afterward re sealed, if desired, all as will more fully appear hereinafter.-

The present invention, although illustrated and described in connection with. a bottle, is just as adaptable to a can or ug, and such additional use is intended to be covered by the claims.

In the accompanying drawings'z'Figures 1 and 2 are vertical sections taken at right angles to each other; Fig. 3, a cross section on line 33 of Fig. 1; Fig. at, a cross section on line l't of Fig. 1; Fig. 5, a detail of the collar; and Fig. 6, a detail of the tool for turning the valve.

The bottle neck 1 is provided with a valve downwardly so as to afford a firm seating for the bottle valve. Above the seat the neck is provided with a flared part 3 and an annular channel or groove 4. The neck is also provided with a dispensing opening 5 and with an air opening 6.

The bottle valve 7 may be of any preferred material, preferably cork, and of such size that, it will snugly yet easily fit the valve seat 2, and yet be adaptedfor rotation therein. Said valve is provided With channels 8 and .l'extending lengthwise thereof which are adapted to be brought into register with the openings 5 and ti. it the valve is made o't' cork. rubber or other similar material. its upper end is provided with a metallic cap 10. but it" made of glass or similar material. this cap need not be used and the valve will be so formed or shaped as to carry out the purpose of the cap which is that of atl'ording a suitable end to be journaled in a collar it which is initially ot the form shown in Fig. 5. but after insortion of the valve in the neck is placed over lhe upper end of the valve and the upper edge of said collar is expanded into the groove 4, thus constituting a retaining means which prevents removal oi the valve.

After the bottle has been filled and the valve turned with the channel t out of register with the openings 5 aml (l, sealing wax or some other suitable material .14 poured into the mouth of the neck, and this n'iaterial has to be dug out or broken when the bottle is to be used to enable the user to insert the tool 13 in the opening 12.

After the sealing material has thus been removed, the bottle can be used as a dispensing bottle, the valve permitting easy opening and closing thereof, but any suitable scaln'ig material may be inserted in the month of the bottle at any time when it is desired to seal the bottle against unauthorized use.

After the bottle is filled and sealed a paper band 15 is preferably pasted around the bottle neck over th -,.-penings 5 and (l to seal same. against air and dust, until used. This band is soaked or scraped oil when the contents of the bottle are to be drawn otl.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

1. 4. In a non refillable bottle or the like,

the combination with the bottle mouth provided with dispensing and air openings therein, of a movable valve in said month which is provided With ports adapted to be made to communicate with the openings aforesaid, means for permanently retafning said valve in said bottle mouth, and sealing material in the mouth above the valve.
