Be it known that I, J OHN W. BANCROFT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Norwalk, in the county of F airfield and State of Connecticut, have invented new and useful Improvements in Awning-Fixtures, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to awning fixtures, and the object thereof is to provide a head support for awnings that will more eifectually secure the same in position and permit of their more convenient erection and removal.

A further object of my invention is to provide a laterally disposed depending hook integral with the main body portion adapted to support a sheave block and coact with the head rod of the awning to' lock the block thereon to prevent accidental displacement, and a still further object is to provide a horizontal seat for the head rod of the awning and means for securing said rod therein.

Furthermore, it is the object of my invention to produce a more simple, cheap and eifective device of said character than has heretofore been attained.

T 0 these ends, my invention includes the combination and arrangement of component parts to be hereinafter described and more particularly pointed out in the claims.

In the accompanying drawings illustrating my invention, in which like reference characters designate similar parts, Figure l is a front view of two of my fixtures secured to the top of a window frame and supporting an awning; Fig. 2 is a perspective view of one of my fixtures with the head rod removed; Fig. 3 is a side view of the same, and Fig. 4 is a side view showing the head rod and block supported thereon.

My invention includes, generally, a body provided with screw holes and screws for fastening same in place, a laterally turned hook depending therefrom adapted to support a sheave block, the said body being also provided with a segmental groove running horizontally across the face thereof and between said hook and a screw threaded transverse orifice in the upper face thereof, into which a thumb screw or bolt provided with an annular flaring flange adjacent to the head may be screwed to secure a lateral awning head rod within said groove.

Referring now to the drawings, 1 designates the body portion consisting of a triangular plate having a horizontal segmental groove A across the face thereof adapted to form a seat for the head rod 2 of the awning 3. Said hook is of sufficient length to extend to such close proximity to the head rod 2 when in position, as hereinafter described, that the ring is locked thereon.

The body portion 1 is provided adjacent to its upper corners with screw holes 7 to accommodate screws 7 by which it is fastened in position. Intermediate of said holes, I provide a thickened portion 8 of the body portion, which is pierced transversely adjacent to the horizontal groove A with a screw-threaded orifice adapted to receive the thumb screw or bolt 9. Said thumb screw has an annular flaring flange 10 adjacent to its head 1.] adapted to bear and impinge against the head rod 2 when placed in the groove A in the body portion, and lock same therein, and it will be ap' parent that a slight adjustment of the screw will be sufficientto release or secure the some in place.

It will of course be understood that two or more of the fixtures herein described will be employed to support the head rod and awning, and that the sheave blocks will be rigged with suitable tackle to raise and lower same.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to be secured by Letters Patent, is-

1. In an awning fixture, the combination with a body portion provided with a threaded transverse orifice having a recess in the face thereof, a laterally disposed depending hook, and a threaded bolt screwed into said threaded transverse orifice in said body portion and provided with a flanged head adapted to lap over a portion of said recess, substantially as described.

2. In an awning fixture, the combination with a body portion provided with a threaded transverse orifice adapted to be secured upon a building, and having a horizontal segmental groove in the face thereof, a depending hook carried on said body portion, and a threaded bolt screwed into said threaded transverse orifice in said body portion and provided with a flanged head adapted to lap over a portion of said segmental groove, substantially as described.
