TRANSFER-HANGER.
Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, THOMAS E. Henson and EDWARD HUDsoN, citizens of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Transfer-Hangers, of which the following is a specification.
Oua' invention relates to an improvled transfer hanger, designed for use by street railway conductors, but of course may be put to various other uses, the object of the invention being to provide improvements of this character which can be readily attached or detached, and which is adapted to support a book or package of transfers in convenient position on the conductors coat, so as to enable him to readily tear off the transfers as desired.
With these and other objects in View, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction, and combinations,..-and arrangements of parts as will be more fully hereinafter described and pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1, is a view in elevation illustrating the application of our improvements. Fig. 2, is a view in section on the line 2-2 of Fig. 1, and Figs. 3 and 4, are detail perspective views of the two members.
Our improved device comprises two members 1 and 2 respectively. The member 1 is formed from a single wire, bent as shown in Fig. 3, and having parallel longitudinal wires 3 with eyes 4 at their ends projecting at right angles to the wires 3. This member 1 is adapted to be positioned against the inner face of the conductors coat, illustrated at 5, vwith the eye portions 4 projecting through openings 6 in the coat, so as to project the eye portions 4 out beyond the outer face of the garment.
The member 2 consists of a single sprin wire bent at one end forming a hook 7, an at its other end constituting a cross pin 8, to be projected through the eyest and caught under the hook 7, to secure the member 2 to the member 1. The intermediate portion of the wire, forming the member 2, is bent, as
clearl shown in Fig. 4:, to provide alined shoul ers 9 and a depressed central portion 10. The purpose of this shape, as clearly shown by Fig. 1, is to allow the shoulder portions 9 to engage practically the folded or extreme upper edge of the book of transfers 11.
The books of transfers in ordinary use, are bound by a staple shown at 12, and the depressed portion 10 of the member 2, will, to a certain extent, surround that portion of the book of transfers bound by the staple, and allow the shoulders 9 to engage very close to the extreme upper edge of the book of transfers, when the latter are divided and hung over the same as shown in Fig. 1.
In use, the member 2 would, of course, be placed in position in the book of transfers, and then engage the member 1 and will effectually support the transfers in convenient reach of the conductor.
Slight changes might be made in the general form and arrangement of parts described without departing from our invention, and hence we do not restrict ourselves to the precise details set forth, but consider ourselves at liberty to make such changes and alterations as fairly fall within the spirit and scope of our invention.
Having thus described our invention what we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
In a device of the character described, the combination with two members, one member having eyes at its ends, the other member having a cross pin to project through said eyes, a hook to lock said pin, and alined shoulders and a depressed intermediate portion, whereby said last mentioned member may position itself around a transfer binding staple and support a package of transfers, substantially as set forth.
