The object of the invention is to provide a simple and ellicient means for forming. by an extrudiiig prot-(15s, hollow bodies of any desired crow-section both internally and externally, which apparatus guarantees by its construction a uniformity of production.`

In this modification, .screw bolts or studs 8 hold the bracket 5 to. one of the guides.
It should be understood that the various parts are made adjustable and dismountable,
ut the particular'means for adjusting or dismounting said parts need not be described since they constitute no essential part of this invention broadly speaking.
In the pretzerred construction, in all instances, the main body of the mandrel is made heavier in cross-section than the crosssection of that part of themandrel which forms the internal wall oithe extruded product. By this means great strength and resistance to lateral deflection is a'orded. The main body of the mandrel may be round, or of some uniform shape, throughout the greater portion of its length, whereby a snug fit will occur between it. and the dummy 6, at all positions of the latter thereon, thus preventing back leakage of the netal past sald dummy.
Bypreterence, the body of the mandrel is of circular cross-sectional outline save at its forward forming end where any desired shape may be provided according to the intended internal cross-sectional outline of the extruded metal.
The forward end of the mandrel in each instance may be formed by a removable .piece 4b whereby ends of diere'nt designs may be interchangeably employed. The removable ends in all instances are furnished with' any suitable attaching means.
It will be observed that the follower serves to'support lthe mandrel against lateral deflection and thus supplements the action of the'v bracket in this respect.
lVhat I claim is: v `1 In a machine for producing hollow tubularhodies, a container havinga bore therein, a'die carried by said container in line with said bore, a mandrel, means for holding said mandrel in said container. a dummy or follower slidahly litting said mandrel and karranged in line with said bore, a mandrel,
a bracket for holding the sume within said bore and arranged to coiperate with saidl die. a dummy slidably fitting said mandrel and the wall of said bore. and .a power driven plunger movable ,indeiwndently ol .said mandrel and bracket, and arranged to engage and force said dummy forwardly. t. In a machine of the character described, a container having a bore therein. a die in line with .said bore at the outlet end thereof, a power driven plunger, a mandrel independent thereof vand arranged to 'cooperate with said die, a bracket or holding said mandrel against. longitudinal movement and in cooperative relation with said die, and dummy or follower having a sliding tit o'r said -mandrel and within said bore, said plunger cooperating with said follower for the purpose described.
4. In a machine of the character described, a container having a bore of uniform crosssectional size, a die at the outletend of said bore haring a passage of suitable outline. a mandrel having a forward removable end of a suitable cross-sectional outline adapted to cooperate with said die, means for holding said mandrel in coperative relation with said die, a power driven lunger independent of said mandrel, a fo lower having a slidingr lit upon said mandrel and a sliding fit with the wall of said bore, and arranged to be moved forwardly by said plunger.
5. In a machine for extruding hollow bodies, a (Jntainer having a bore thereinlra die carried by said container in line with said bore, a mandrel arranged to coperate with the die, and means for holding said mandrel in coperative relation thereto, a dummy or follower slidable within'the. container and upon the mandrel and operating as a closure for.` the space around said mandrel within the die, and means to force .said dummy or follower toward the die, independent ot the mandrel.
