To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, DELIA M. ,SI'MrsoN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State :of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Drinking-Cup Attachment,

following is a specification. v This invention, relates to a sanitary attachment or guard for drinking cups.

The object of the invention is in a simple, practical and inexpensive manner, to eliminate the danger of contracting contagious diseases attending the promiscuous use of cups or dippers at water-coolers anddrinking founts, thus to remove one of the most prolific causes of transmission of disease germs, such as those of tuberculosis, typhoid fever, and the like, with which the public has to contend, and further to prevent discomfort and often positive suffering to persons who, from fear of contagion, will abstain from water when traveling long distances on boats and railway cars.

\Vith the above and other objects in view, as will appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists in the novel construction and combination of parts of a, sanitary ing cups, as will be hereinafter fully described and claimed.

In the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, and in which like characters of reference indicate corresponding parts :-Figure 1 is a view in perspective of a drinking cup equipped with the guard of the present invention. The attachment consists of a guard 1 shaped to fit the rim ofa cup or other drinking vessel, and a suction tube 2 of cylindrical form and provided at its outer end with a bead 3, although this may be omitted if desired. These parts are preferably of some non-oxidizable metal, such as aluminum, or of hard rubber, and the finished article will be compact in form, light in weight and easy to carry, .as it will occupy but small space in a pocket or hand-bag.
