One advantage of the invention is that it elim inates the necessity for a plurality of drinking glasses and consequently the labor of washing and polishing such glasses, another feature being that it promotes conviviality, since it is intended primarily for use at social gatherings. An addi tional advantage is that it may be formed of plastic or a similar material, thus keeping the cost of production at a minimum.

For the purpose of this specification I have illustrated and will describe the invention as being associated with a punch bowl, but it is to be understood that it is not limited to such use but may be employed wherever it is convenient for a number; of persons to drink simultaneously from a single container.

In the drawings- Fig. 1 is a cross-sectional view of my multiple sipper shown in association with a punch bowl and ready for use by several persons.

Fig. 2 is a cross-sectional view taken on line 2-2, Fig. 1, showing the means for holding the device in position in the punch bowl.

Fig. 3 is a view taken on line 33, Fig. 1, showing the means for holding the individual sippers in position near the top of the punch bowl.

Fig. 4 is a cross-sectional view taken on line 4-4, Fig. 1, showing the means for holding the individual sippers in position near the bottom of the punch bowl.

The invention comprises a rubber base I, the lower portion of which is so formed as to provide a suction cup 2, while its upper portion is solid and molded around a head 4, so that said head is embedded in the base I, as shown in Fig. 2. A plate 5 rests upon the base I, said plate being apertured, as shown at 6, to permit passage therethrough of the upwardly extending, screwthreaded stem 7 of the head 4.

An elongated, vertical, cylindrical member 8 rests upon the plate 5, being separated therefrom by a washer I I, said member having an interiorly screwthreaded opening to receive the screwthreads of the stem 1 (Fig. 2). At its upper por tion the cylindrical member 8 is provided with a similar screwthreaded opening to receive the downwardly extending-threaded end of a screw 9.

A plurality of sippers I5 is also provided, and there may be as many of these sippers as there are pairs of apertures Iii-M, but it is not essential that all of the sippers be employed. For the purpose of this specification, a single sipper will be described, it being understood that all of the sippers l5 are identical in structure and use.

The sipper I5 is formed preferably of plastic material and is inserted through a pair of the apertures I3M so that it extends slightly below the plate 5. At a point just above the plate In the sipper I5 is bent outwardly, as at It, at an angle that will be convenient to a person using the sipper, that part of the sipper below the point It being in a vertical position.

In use the procedure is as follows:

Suppose several persons wish to sip simultaneously from a punch bowl. My multiple sipper is placed within the bowl B with its base I resting on the floor of the bowl, where it will be firmly held by virtue of the suction cup 2 at the bottom of said base. A beverage (not shown) is introduced into the bowl, the surface of said beverage being well above the plate 5, so that the vertical portions of the sippers 15 extend down into the beverage, the upper parts of the respective sippers extending outwardly and away from each other. It is obvious from Fig. 1 that the sippers l5 may thus be comfortably used simultaneously by a number of persons grouped about the punch bowl, without danger of contaminating the contents of the bowl.

To cleanse the individual sippers l5 it is only necessary to withdraw them from the apertures l3l4, wash them, and upon re-inserting them in said apertures the device is ready for further use.

I claim:

1. A beverage sipper adapted to permit a plurality of persons to sip simultaneously from a single container, and comprising a base including a suction cup and a solid upper portion, a

vertical member extending upwardly from said base, means embedded in said solid portion and in rigid engagement with said vertical member, a pair of apertured plates secured to the upper and lower portions respectively of said vertical member, each aperture in the upper plate being opposite a similar aperture in the lower plate, and a plurality of sippers each extending through an opposite disposed pair of said apertures, said sippers extending outwardly away from each other above the upper one of said plates.

2. A beverage sipper adapted to permit a, plurality of persons to sip simultaneously from a single container, and comprising a base including a suction cup and a solid upper portion, a vertical member extending upwardly from said base and having threaded openings in its upper and lower portions, a nut embedded in said solid portion and having an upwardly extending, threaded stem in engagement with said lower threaded opening, a centrally apertured plate surrounding said stem and resting upon said base, a similar centrally apertured plate resting upon the upper end of said vertical member and a screw passing through the aperture of said upper plate to secure said plate and said vertical mem- 2.
