IMPROVEMENT IN BASE-BURNING- STOVES,

The Schedule referred to these Letters Patent'aud making part of the same.

To all whom it may conce'r: i

Be it known that we, M. R. BARR and WILLIAM T. BLACK, of Erie, inthe county of Erie, and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a newfand useful Improvement in Stoves; and we do hereby' declare that .the'iollowing is a full, clear, and exact description ment for base-burning stoves, and has for its object to provide an attachment under an arrangement calculated to be useful not only for baking, but for cook-Y ing in other ways, as frying, stewing, 85o., and so that the lheat shall pass directly under and around the exterior ofthe oven, or not, as'required. p

The drawing represents an elevation of a Morning Glory stove, partly in section, and provided with our" improved oven-attachment, also sectioned.

At the rear of the cylinder enclosing th'e upper part ofthe beating-space, and where smoke-pipes are usually attached, we attach a double-Walled oven, A, so arranged, relatively to the said cylinder, that one wall thereof occupies the place of or becomes the wall ofthe cylinder B, adjacent to the said ovens.

C represents an inclined ilue leading from the shell of the stove at the top of the re-pot to the bottom of the oven, between -the two walls, a b, thereof, to convey the heat between the said' walls up' the sides and over the top of the escape-flue-E.

F represents another passage, suitably separaten from the passage G, and leading from the upper part of the heating-space up to the top and to the ilne E.

Grepresents-a doubleacting damper, so arranged as to close the 011e passage and open the other simultaneously.

The inner Wall of the bottom of the oven is provided with a pot-hole, H, wherein Vessels may be set for cooking, and receive the direct action of the incandescent lire below, or the said hole may be covered when the oven is used for baking. Y

Having thus described our invention,

Ve claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent The combination, with a base-burning stove, of an oven-attachment arranged therewith, so that the connecting-side of' the oven forms a part of 'the shell of the stove, and having a line, C, leading directly from L the top of the fire, or one side thereof, to the bottoni ofthe said oven; alsohaving a hole, H, in the inner wall of the bottom, and a double-acting damper, G, all substantially as specilied.
