Be it known that I, WILLIAM F. WILLIAMs, of East Illirmingha-m, in the county of Allegheny, and State of Pcunsylvania, have invented certain new and useful In]prtWements-in Cook-Stoves; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact'tlescription thereof, reference being had to the accompztnyingklrawlugs, and to the letters of reference marked there-on, which form a part of this specification. 1 1..

The nature of my invention consists in the construction of deviceswhich. 1 term' extension-plates, which may be attached to and detached from the sides, front, and back of ordinary cooking-stoves or ranges.

To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my devices, I will describe their construction and adaptation. I I s i In the accompanying drawing Figure 1 is a perspective view of 'my'derices as at,

In the top plate and flange A of an ordinary cooking-stove or range, A, I make one or more right-angled slots A, extension-plates B, of either a plane or broken surface, having one or more flanges B and one or more lugs B", and one-or more sockets BK. I

The, plates B are operated with an ordinary stoveliftcr, or such-like device, taking its hold in the socket B, and held in a vertical position in such a: manner as the lugs B will penetrate the slots A. The plates 13 are then turned downward into a. horizontal position, the flange B bearing against theflange A, an d lug 13 bearing against the under part of the top plate of the stove A; theplate B will then carry whatever weight the density of the metal will allow.

The top plate of the stove A may be strengthened with a rib, or such-like device, providing, ho\vever, 2:.

Corresponding groove be made in the lug B.

The advantages arising from the use of my devices are that small stoves or ranges are oftentimes not ot sufficient size to carry all the culinary utensils required;

The extension-plates B being attached to the stove in the manner described, serve as a table to hold the same, and do not prevent the manipulation of the stove.

My devices can be readily adapted to existing stoves or ranges, as the slots A can be out through in any suitable manner.

Having thus described the -nature and construction of my improvements in cooking-stoves or ranges,

-What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Let tors Patent, is-

1. Constructing extension-plates in such a manner as they may be attached to and detached from the top plates of cooking-stoves or ranges, substantially as described.
