Y CEMENT-POST MACHINE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed June 29,1907, Serial No. 381,470. Renewed October 30, 1908, Serial No. 460,339.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, BENJAMIN F. GIBLER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Winslow, in the county of Stephenson and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cement-Post Machines, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to cement post machines and particularly contemplates the provision of a simple and inexpensive structure comprising a combination of releasable parts which may be quickly and easily set up for molding another post.
My invention further and specifically resides in the following features of construction, arrangement and operation as will be hereinafter described with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which like numerals are used to designate like parts throughout the several figures, and in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of the assembled mold body, Fig. 2 is a transverse L sectional view', on an enlarged scale, taken therethrough, Fig. 3 is a vertical lOIlgltlb' dinal section taken through a portion thereof on a scale with Fig. 2, and Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the pallet having a post thereon molded in my improved machine.
In the practical embodiment of my. invention I provide a mold comprising a base 1 supported in its length by a plurality of yoke irons 2 attached beneath said base 1 by means of their ears 3 and screws 4 projecting therethrough into said base, said yoke ears being provided with upwardly extending arms 5 having inner beveled edges 6. The sides 7 of the mold are arranged to rest with their edges within the yoke irons with their longitudinal edges upon the upper face of the mold base 1, said sides being provided with a plurality of wedge irons 8 suitably attached thereto by their ears 9 and provided for beveled edges 10 adapted to lie against the beveled edges 6 of the up ward extending arms 5 of the yoke irons to hold sides 7 directly at right angles to the mold base 1. The mold base 1 and the sides 7 are provided adjacent their ends with transverse slots 11 and 12 respectively, which are adapted to be alined when said base and sides are assembled, to receive slides 13 forming the mold ends.
Arranged longitudinally within the mold,
formed by assembling the base 1 and sides 7,
are a pair of mold strips 14 having a plurality of spikes 15 projecting upwardly therefrom, and extending flush with the upper longitudinal edges of the mold sides 7, said strips 14 forming a central longitudinal rib 16 upon the molded post body 17 as shown in Fig. 4, and the spikes 15 forming a plurality of openings 18 through the mold body 17 along the entire length of the rib 16 thereof. A pallet 19 is adapted to be placed upon the upper longitudinal edges of the sides 7 after material has been tamped within a mold body, and to be locked thereon by means of U shaped frames 20 arranged at both ends of the mold, bentto form integral handle portions 21 centrally thereof and having the free ends of their extending arms pivoted at 22 adjacent the end of the mold base 1 In operation after material has been tamped within the mold and the pallet 19 locked above the same, the mold is reversed to rest upon said pallet 19, arms 20 are released and the mold base 1 and its yoke irons 2 are withdrawn, allowing the sides 7 to drop away from the molded post of their own accord. The strips 14 are then removed from the molded form withdrawing the spikes 15 and the operation is complete. The resulting post being shown in Fig. 4.
Having thus fully described my invention, I claim:
1. In a cement post machine, the combination of a mold base, a plurality of yoke irons attached to and supporting the same, having extensions thereof projecting above said mold base, mold sides freely supported within said extension upon said base, mold strips carried within said sides and base and having a plurality of projecting spikes to form wire fastening openings in the molded post, a pallet adapted to be placed above said spikes and to rest upon said mold sides, and U-shaped locking frames pivotally secured to said mold base and adapted for engagement above said pallet to lock the same in position, substantially as described.
2. In a cement post machine, the combina:
tion of a mold base provided with transverse slots adjacent its ends, a plurality of yoke irons attached to and supporting said base and having extensions thereof projecting above the same, mold sides freely supported within said extensions upon said base,
