Application filed May 7, 1909. Serial No. 494,607.
To all whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that I, Jo'nN lVaTsoN MYERS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Toledo, in the. county of Lucas and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Pencil-Holders; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full. clear, and exact description of the invention. such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make. and use the same,
This invention relates to holders for re taining pencils. pens, and other similar an ticles. in the vest pocket; and it consists in the novel construction of the parts hereinafter fully described and claimed.
In the drawings. Figure 1 is a front View of the holder and Fig. 2 is a side view of the holder. drawn to an enlarged scale for clearness.

One ot' the said wires projects at the top of the shank and is formed into a helical coiled spring H. This spring is preteraliily conical and is largest at its upper end. The axis of the spring H is arranged to one side of the shank so that the spring comes over the opening of the pocket. The encil /1. or other similar article. shown in dotted lines. is thrust into the coiled spring H and is held securely by it with its point inside the vest pocket.
The size of the spring H can be adjusted to any size of pencil or pen by twisting or untwisting the coils of the spring.
'hat I claim is-:
l. A holder comprising a shank formed of three twisted wires. three springs formed of the lower end portions of the said wires and adapted to clip the garment. and a helical coiled spring at the top of the said shank which projects to one side of the shank.
2. .& holder comprising a shank formed of three twisted wires. three springs formed of the lower end portions of the said wires and adapted to clip the garment. and a helical coiled spring formed of a continuation of one of the said wires at the top of the shank.
