ATTACHMENT FOR WASHING-MACHINES.
To all whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRIEDRICH LUowIo BARTELT, a subject of the King of Great Britain, and a resident of 3 Kensington Place, Brislington, Bristol, England, soap. and chemical manufacturer, have invented a new and useful Attachment for Washing- Machines, of which the following is a specification. j
The present invention has reference to a device to be attached to steam-heated washing machines such as are commonly used in laundries by meansof which detergent vapor may be introduced into the washing solution for the purpose of making a, lather and facilitating the cleansing ofthe' articles being washed.
My invention will be clearly understood on referring tov the accompanying drawing which shows in side elevation an ordinary rotary washing machine with my, attachment fitted thereto.

My novel attachment consists of a recepa limited quantity of volatile material, say, l OP'lHSlZHHCO, turpentine. The turpentine, which is a liquid can be introduced by the aperture 0 at the side, which is provided with a lip and which will also act as a safeguard against filling the vessel d too full.

This pipe 9 is connected at,the bottom to the pipe h which has branches j communicating with the int rior of the washing machine. In injecting detergent vapors into the machine in this way no extra power need be employed and no stcamis wasted and even if the steam in the injector loses some of its heat such an extremely small amount of steam is required. to work the injector that the loss of heat amounts'to nothing.
What I do claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is An attachment for washing machines in which the washing solution is heated by steam from a steam pipe exterior to and conneeted, with the interior of the machine, said attachment comprising a receptacle for volatile material 1n communication with the atmosphere above the level of the volatile material therein; a pipe leading from said receptacle from a point above the body of 'volatile material therein and communicating with the interior of the machine independent of the steam pipe, a steam injector located raniniucu LUDWIG BARTEL'I.
